ermmmm.... wrong forum, you posted this in the 280ZX tech threads, not the 300ZX (Z32) tech. might wanna delete this one and post it where it should be otherwise, you wont get much help lol. and auto trans' are a bitch, might need some professional help, check the tranny fluid level first though. more than likely, if its not fluid, it wont be something you can diagnose by yourself unless your a really smart feller.

If everything doesnt work out a friend of mine got a new tranny off of ebay thinking it would be crap but he got it for a lil over 300 bucks and its lasted him a lil over 90,000 miles so far and it was an automatic 300z.

Do the schools in this country no longer teach proper sentence structure?

just for quick on-topic ness since he never came back to his own thread and just incase

did you check the fluid level? only things i can think of is low fluid, something is actaully internally broken, the vein system is clogged but ATF is full of detergents so that shouldnt happen, or the TCM is goin out. either way, unless its just low fluid level, i doubt you can figure it out on your own since auto trannies are a PIA

I figured it out... I know EXACTLY what's wrong with it...

it's an automatic transmission in a GT car meant for a 5-speed.

But seriously, do as Eric said, check fluid level. Change it if possible before spending more money on expensive trans work.

i checked the fluid level. It was over full i pulled down the pan and, found plastic in the pan. along with a lot of metal shavings. The trans oil looks like candy apple paint i think the trans is taken a ****..

ATF is read, but you should have ish in it.... try filling it back up to the right level. and remember the car needs to be running to check the fluid level.

Your symptoms don't point to the tranny being bad.

They point to a sensor on the car being bad to the point that the pcm puts the car into a limp mode in which tranny starts in second and stays there.
