help tuning 92 tt

hey guys i need help on how to tune my car. the car's got JWT chip, Air intake, 3" exhaust pipe. I bought the car with this set up, so i have no clue on how to get them to work right.first my air/fuel ratio, my air/fuel meter is always on the lean side, and I got black smoke coming out of my exhaust. I got new catalytic converter, but didn't fix the problem, i was told that an ECU uprgrade was needed for that. Second the pinging noise in the engine every time i accelerate. I'll start with these problems first. hope u guys can help.

Check to make sure your timing is set at 15 degrees BTDC. IF it's over 15, then that could be the cause of the pinging. Which plugs do you have in it, because you should have the NGK PFR6-11's in it. Plugs should be gapped at .035" for a stage III setting (according to Z1).

Black smoke usually indicated a rich condition, not lean.

How much boost are you running?

You are running premium fuel, right?
