Idiot lights when coasting
I just had a wings west front bumper installed and a couple days later when i was driving my 91NA i had the car out of gear coasting with clutch out and like 5 idiot lights came on. Freaking out i put the car back into gear and all the idiot lights went away. This only happens when the car has been out of gear for a little bit while coasting. I did some searches on tt.net and think it might be the alternator, although car did seem to run fine. Any guesses, any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Re: Idiot lights when coasting
Does it idle low when coasting? What could happen is that your engine will idle rough, basically like its going to die. Your tach will keep moving up and down. So your alternator is not providing enough power when this happens, and your lights come on because your car is about to die. I need to replace my air pressure regulator, so when I start my car in the morning, it idles really rough. It jumps anywhere from 200 to 1000 RPM's. When its dropping in RPM's, my lights in my dash come on, but if I rev it up, it goes away.

Re: Idiot lights when coasting
Just checked ecu diagnostics and everything concerning that seems to be ok, i'm going to have the battery checked and if it is ok ill probably look more into the alternator and replace it. I dont remember what it was idling at or if the engine was rough idle, i think it did sound that way. Thanks for the help and info
