intake

yes, it's an intake from JWT, and it also comes with a velocity stack. https://www.amzperformance.com/z32/?...cd28182e77e1a&

For the record, the JWT Pop Charger dynoed 5-8rwhp over its closest competitor (based on testing done by Specialty Z). Considering it's also the least expensive intake setup for the Z32, I don't see any reason to go with a different brand.

1. It's not just a filter, it includes a velocity stack which helps accelerate air into the system (which means even more air).
2. JWT does not actually use K&N brand filters, they use a different brand that actually flows a little better.
Finally, 5-8rwhp MORE than it's CLOSEST COMPETITOR (Apex-i), not over stock. The gains are actually larger than that... but the purpose of their testing was NOT to determine horsepower gains (because that's subjective to the car the intake is on)... the purpose was to see which intake provided, consistantly, the most horsepower among brands. JWT made the most horsepower.

--Wait--Im confused--whats a "Velosvty Stack"? sounds like a marketing catch phrase.
Correct me if im wrong, but, to install a cone filter you throw out the factory air box and fasten the new cone filter to the MAF. Where does the neat little "Velocity Stack" go???
Also, 1 ~ 5 hp difference really isnt noticed until high speeds trying to acheive topend, right. All im saying is JWT, Apexi, Blitz, K&N etc. dosent really make a significant difference. Anyone of these is breathing more air in than the factory air box.

ok...I'm aware that K&N makes cone filter...that's why I said it's not a DROP-IN K&N. Reading comprehension is a valuable tool. However, Nismo was alluding that zlover was claiming that there was this huge gain from simply adding a K&N...the pop charger is more than a filter...it's the velocity stack/adaptor and a cone filter. The velocity stack goes in between your MAF and filter. IT's an adaptor as well. A velocity stack helps direct the air coming into the intake. For instance...people often use velocity stacks on Carbs. 240z's have velocity stacks built into their air cleaners from the factory.

nice
ok, sorry i started a fued between the masses...I dont know half of what you guys do when it comes to this car. What i do know is that i have a great exhauste, but need a bit more air intake. All i want to know is what i should be looking for in the realm of cold air intakes for this vehicle. I need a web site or a name...possibly things that have worked well for you in the past w/pictures....anything! An argument about stuff that I dont understand just doesnt help me.

all of these can be found on the ever famous "Riz's Link Page".
and most people here will reccommend the JWT single POP for an NA.
hope that helps.

I think the filter part is covered pretty well.
But if you are also wanting the chrome hard pipes..a company called RVM sells the chrome hard pipes for the NA cars seperately. You can get them thru Z1, and probably a efw other shops too. I went with the JWT pop charger and the RVM hard pipes on my Z. THose damn nipples things finally wore out on my stock plastic intake tubes and after JB welding and god knows what else I tried to reattach them I ust sprang for the metal tubes. Looks a lot better too.

single pop
hey NY did you notice a big diffrence when you added the single pop? I have heard that the stock Z intake is pretty good already and that putting in an after market does not make a noticable diffrence, whats your opinion?

it funnels air into the intake piping. If there is something to help the air flow into the tube, more air is going to flow through the tube. More air makes more power.
Not having the velocity stack would cause a slight increase in turbulence, which eats horsepower.

bomz
I looked at the jwt single pop and it is 100 bucks and is basically only the air filter cone. I found a set up from 'Bomz' that comes with everything including really nice looking chrome pipes and it is garunteed to fit perfectly...it is also only 100 bucks...any thoughts?

Yes there is alot of Bomz being sold on ebay... but they do have a legit website with 128bit encrypted checkout... although its through a checkout system company and not their own encryption... but from what I can tell their main distributers are people who operate a regular commerce site with ebay as their main source of sales
