what is the deal with the fairlaidy motor. what are the specs on them. i am thinking about purcahasing one for my 91tt. i am not sure if it is worth it though. please let me know what u think.

 

they are the same engine but in Japan they are governed at 280hp max allowed for production car by law. they were imported at 300hp to the states. As for individual specs I couldn't tell you but I do own a J-spec Z32.

 

then what is the big deal about having a j-spec motor. especially since the us version is better?

 

upgrade adbility on most j-spec engines its easier to find parts like nissan s-14 and 180z but when it comes to the ve engines its pretty much the same on trying to find parts wether its us or japan...now from what i hear the j-spec engine weighs a little less than the american one and it also hase parts on the other side like the battery...instead of the battery being on the passanger side its on the driver side just small stuff like that...but if you find out anything else please let us know im kind of intrested my self to know..
