If you went with an open header, you might want to redirect the exhaust flow away from the floorpan. The headers end just under the firewall, beginning of the floorpan. The transmission is right there as well. Unless you want a hot foot, some kind of piping will be necessary.

loudest exaust
i have a fairly cheap way to make the z as loud as possible with mufflers. buy 2 of the shortest obx muff's you can get and run 2.5 inch piping from the e.manifold back with no cats or resonators!.........plug your ears cuz this set up is very loud!
