My 300zx, oh yeah, 94
Does anybody Want to buy mine? I am going to take a beating, but I won't lie, it should probably have the engine rebuilt. For some odd reason, it won't stop smoking! I just spent 4000G's getting new turbos, and the son of a b*&^h still smokes! The car is insanely fast, it just smokes. Right now, I have at least 25 thou. invested, and have to get rid of it before it breaks me. The car has been upgraded alot, but needs just a few more dollars than I am capable of supplying. The first 13 G's and it's gone! Feel free to contact me on the net at phsyconova@ either hotmail or yahoo.com, I am on usually late at night, or you can call 24hrs. a day at 952-221-2832, or during the day at 952-442-4434. This car is beautiful, but for me, it's just not worth it. I am loosing my *** on this thing, so don't think this car isn't worth it!

What color smoke, I think blue!
It has kind of a white/blue smoke to it, and sometimes it looks yellow, but I think thats the headlights behind me showing through. I think the rings are probably shot too, because the guy I bought it from had the Profec B boost controler set to run at 1.5 bar, besides all the other things. Greddy intercoolers, HKS BOV, Exhaust from stillen, except for the mufflers. I don't know, just let me know what you think!

Have you had a compression test done? That should be a give away that the rings are gone. As the cylinders won't hold pressure up to spec because of ring blowby. You should be reading approx. 140 or better.

I guess my thought is....
What else would it be, this thing is really starting to **** me off, I have all this money invested only to give it away to some lucky person, that has more money than I do. But, All it will take should be a new motor, and that SOB should just about friggen fly, I'll bet 200-220 mph, at least, if not faster, but I wouldn't want to try it. The sooner the better if someone wanted it, because either the bank is going to repo the damn thing, or I am going to gte it rolling as fast as I can strait into a wall or some other imovable object, yeah, it may kill me, but that's about how excited I am to keep this car.

What are you talking about Poctum?
Well then Phsyconova, If you don't wanna keep it that's up to you. Just trying to help determine the problem so that you might wanna keep it. I just think that you'll be wasting a lot of money and enjoyment with the car, if you sell it. I know it can be frustrating if you can't find what's wrong. Dumb question, did it smoke before you put the new turbos? If so, why didn't you fix that first? How much boost are you running with the new ones? I'm guessing that maybe excessive boost might be your problem. Too much boost without reinforcing internals could be causing the smoke. Try turning it down if that's the case. There's always reaching out into the Zcommunity near you for help. Maybe a Z mechanic might lend you a hand.

Boost settings and Nissan mechanic's....
The guy I bought this car from, is a Nissan/mercedes Mech. But He used to be the main Z guy at the place he worked, but he was the one that told me the turbo's are bad, so then I got the stage-I turbos from stillen, which are just from Jim Wolf Tech. Well, after the turbos were in, I took the intake system apart (not the manifold) and cleaned out all the oil in there, including the intake tubes, the intercoolers, and the upper plenum! Actually, I have done this twice, besides replacing the PCV valves, Where else would the bitch be getting oil from? Is the plenum getting that much in it that it runs back down to the intercoolers and the rest of that. The strange as hell thing is, the up pipe from the turbo is clean from there to the BOV tube, but the BOV has oil in it! What the hell is causing that? The other thing, I had set the boost down to 0.5 bar, at least that is what I would of thought is what that meant. Any way, I would much rather keep my 240 at this point, because it's a reliable car, and it get's me where I need to go. So let people know, fi they're looking to buy one! thanks, K.C.

Well then that all clarifies it. He sold you the car with blown piston rings. You might also want to check your PCV valves. I can almost bet you that they are clogged at this point. If your getting that much oil in the intake system, that's pretty good evidence that he pulled a fast one on you. Did he also do the turbo swap? I bet he was pretty eager to help you with that, if at all. You don't need a new engine, just a rebuild. He probably sold it to you because he didn't want to do the work himself.

Here are some online retailers that sell piston rings as well as many other internals. If you plan on keeping the car, hopefully its not your daily driver right now, maybe you could fortify the internals a bit more. There are all sorts of trick parts to get. Of course, you don't have to throw more money into a car you don't want. The minimal you should do though, if you plan on keeping it now, is to rebuild the bottom end with new rings, check all your seals for leakage, and make sure all your hoses are in good shape. Don't need any leaks or clogs. I know it sounds like a lot to do and I won't try to tell you that it isn't, but I think that once you're over this hump you'll enjoy the wickedness that you'll unleash in the sexy form that is the Z.

Ok, then can you find a buyer for my SX?
It is a sweet little car, that I would love to turbo swap, but at this point, until I win the lottery, I really can only afford one car. This 240sx is one of the coolest cars I have ever driven! I also believe that if the 240 had the same suspension upgrades that my Z has, I am willing to put money on it, that the 240 could out handle, and if given the right motor set up, out power the Z as well. Ya' know, if I end up stuck with this Z, I am just going to get stupid with the rebuild! I'm thinkin' pauter rods, probably JE pistons, some expensive *** set of rings, and some real good machine work from the guy in the next town. What about porting the heads, the intake and exxhaust manifolds, and using the stillen cams that open that bitch up to 7800? What about these mods, would you do them if you had to get into it that far? I really appreciate the support, and would really like to keep my 240, but since I have to sell one to fix another, I ma in sort of a tight place. The 240 has all the usual tuner mods, including Cold air intake, with extension, HKS Hyper-exhaust, Nology hotwires, JUN tech light weight fly wheel, brand new ACT clutch, B&M short throw shifter. I do also have the rear upper adjustable control arms. Oh well, look at all the rambling, I suppose, Later, and thanx!

Well I hope both of those are your fun car and not your daily driver. The 240 would be a better daily driver. The 300 if you decide to keep it will scorch the 240 in every category. That's what it was built for. If you plan to go all out for the rebuild, check out some of the retailers I mentioned. Some have the stroker kit for the Z. Raising the overall volume to 3.2 Liters will gurantee you Huge power. I'd go with the Jun or Tomei internals, yeah they're more expensive but they're very reliable pieces that I've seen used in others cars that put out crazy Numbers. The lighter the weight of the internals the less mass that gets rotated, the more that frees up to move your wheels. As far as selling either of those try the for sale sections of the popular Nissan forums, including this one.

Hey, thanks for the help.......
I think I might buy the stroker kit fromthe SPI website. Depending on how stupid it's priced, that would be the shiznit! I will have to get my ECU reprogrammed, wouldn't I? I have also thought of calling stillen to see what they go for, but either way, I think SPI will be my choice. I hope to sell this 240sx soon, cause I need to get by this. thanks, K.C.

If you want to get a reprogrammed ECU go with JWT. Stillen just sells the JWT ECU with their name on it. Better just to go with the original and save a couple of hundred bucks. Jim Wolf Technology also makes cams and exhausts and other stuff for the Z. Just remember if you change anything that has to do with fuel, air, timing or boost you should check if you'll need to update your ECU. It would be easiest and optimal to just do the ECU with all the upgrades at the same time. That way you only pay once for the upgrade instead of sending it back in for reprogramming every time you need to make a change. Stillen doesn't have too much for the Z that you can't find elsewhere for less. Stillen is a good name but are really expensive and is hardly ever the best choice for parts. They just happen to be very well known and alot of ppl don't know that there are alternatives and for less for that matter. If you need any more help let me know.

I just came across this site. I instantly thought about your situation. Since you'll be wanting to sell one of your vehicles. Good luck once again.
