Hey i have a 1990 300zx n/a and a couple weeks ago it began knock. I thought it was the engine but when i popped the hood it definately sounds like the sound is coming from under the cover where the timing belt it. If someone could let me know if its the timing bel, the timing belt tensioner, or something else that would be really helpful. thanks.

Moved to 300ZX Z32 Section since you own a Z32, not a Z31.

As for the noise, have you tried opening up the timing cover and looking to see what is causing the noise?

oh my bad i just made my account today cuz i wanted to find out about this problem im having, and no i have taken the cover off yet cuz it looks as if you have to take everything in front of the cover off in order to get the the cover and i havent had the time to do that

Hey I have a 1990 300zx N/A and i just recently began to hear a knock in engine right under the cover which hides the timing belt. I would just like to know if it is the timing belt, the timing belt tensioner, or something else. I just don't wanna waste money replacing the wrong part. If anyone can help me I appreciate it.
