odd sound, lagging idle
I apoligize I haven't had adequate time to search the forums yet, but heres my problems. (90' n/a 2+2)
The car makes a winding electric type sound whenever the car is in 2nd and
4th. The sound can't be heard from the outside of the car very well(unless it just gets drowned out), but when the windows are up you can hear it over plain as day. I can feel something that might me loose in 2nd and 4th in conjuction with the sound through the gas pedal. I just bought the car 3 weeks ago and it started after a trip down the highway. What/where should I look to correct this problem.
Also the car idles rough and the power level wants to occasionally dip low where it feels like the car wants to die. I got a tune up and used some fuel injector cleaner and the problem remains. Any information would help!
Thanks
Tom

Thanks Dom and Zlover. I believe I have cornered the problem with the idle and fuel injectors. Apparently this is a common problem. Also I'm gonna have a mechanic check the syncros for me...hopefully this isn't too costly of a repair. Thanks again!

And just so you know, if you don't retrofit the new style pintle-less injectors, your improved idle will be short-lived. The pintle injectors that came in your 1990 Z32 are not designed to work with ethanol fuel, and will continue failing thanks to our government requiring ethanol-blended fuels.
