oil pressure

oil pressure

my Z32 with 150k has good oil pressure until it idles after heating up. at this point it bounces around between 0 and 10. bearings? pump? can i drop the pan and change the pump? thanks for all the help lately. it has been a rouph switch from my british cars now to japanese. and i have changed the oil: 10W-30 castrol high mileage with a K&N filter

10w30 is pretty light for a z with 150k on it. You could try a hgher weigth oil.
The reason you're oil pressure is reading low is liekly due to the oil pressure sending unit going bad instead of any of the problems you mention.

Since you're used to British cars, I can't fault you for thinking that the problem is more major. Nissan Z engines are pretty bullet proof. British cars are um.....not.

Yeah, it's a common problem with all Z's. I've replaced several on my Z's, and only use 20/50 weight oil, which doesn't help the sender reading. They're usually just not that accurate, even when they do work properly. Best bet is to check your oil weekly and change it regularly, when it's due.
