i think it's not worth $400-500 when you already have a stock one that looks great and be fixed.

oh no. oh no. your priorities are in all the wrong places. when i start to think like you are thinking now, i like for someone to tell me to let the car sit for a little while while i think about what i'm spending my money on. and i'm being serious, not just being an ***.

firstly, you are going to enjoy a well running car with a busted fascia a lot more than you will enjoy a poorly running car with a nice new one.

secondly, FMIC's are not a good choice for the z32. look in the sticky about intercoolers for the proof.

... someone's on the WAY wrong path with their car... looking at FMIC's and knock-off fascias for what was once a ~$40,000 GT car.

so they started a tt swap that's nice of them to do for you!! but you are going in the wrong direction if fixing the car is going to cost a lot then you should save that money you want to waste on that bumper and use it for something useful, using it on the parts you need would be good.

So the last owner installed an FMIC and didn't even know the proper orientation of the wheels... sounds like a winner to me. To be honest, I'd have stayed the hell away from that car, because it clearly wasn't owned by the best type of Z owner.

yea i know what you mean. but this is my first z too. so i didnt know and a twin turbo z for 3 grand that looked as good on the outside and seemed like it didnt need alot of work seemed good to me. and i still dont think its gonna cost to much i decided im gonna do about 75% of the work myself and 25% shop for tuning and hooking up all the sensors and making sure electrical is good and everything is in order so that i dont miss anything.. but im going to start shopping at a junkyard monday hopefully. already found one with a 93 300zx tt. which is perfect

just take your time and find someone who knows what their doing to help. There are several Z ownders in so cal... just park the Z, fix it at the auto hobby shop, and if you need to go anywhere take a ride on the seabreeze vans with some soi kids (do the sea breeze vans still run?? hahaha i think i just deleted their number out of my phone after being gone from that place for what 4 years? haha)

you should be able to find some help though.

ok so i worked on my z on saturday and i got a lot of things done. i bolted up my starter. hooked up fuel lines. (goodyear j30r9 5/16 fuel injection line) put up my driveshaft and a while ago i hooked up alot more connectors i found to go together. i put the straight pipes that came with it on. but im gonna have to redo those because they are really messed up. but anyways i got my car to crank and at first when i put the fuel lines on it would crank and sounded like it wanted to start but only started like half way and died. it did this a couple times and than would only crank. than the cranking would start sounding really slow. so i towed my car back home and charged up the battery. and now the cranking is really strong but still wont start up or try as much as it was before. what do you guys think i should check for. what does it sound like to you guys. i think i might be flooding it so im gonna pull the fuel pump fuse and try and start it and if that doesnt work or at least get it closer to starting im gonna check the plugs. but any help from you guys would be greatly appreciated.

check the coil pack and injector connections. it sounds like it wasn't trying to start on all cylinders. also make sure you have the right plugs on the right injectors and coil packs respectively.

ok so i got my z to run today. but it wasnt running right at all. it turned out what was wrong was the engine balance sensor was unplugged and it slowly started up when i plugged it in. but when it started i had to keep my foot on the pedal a little to keep it started and i also couldnt get it past 1,500 rpm. so any ideas on the major problem with the way my z is running

still sounds like you aren't running on all cylinders. you have to make sure all the coil packs and injectors have perfect connections. i know i'm sounding annoying but that is almost always the car won't start after it's been worked on.

....engine balance sensor?

also PTU connections. i believe that one bad connection on that can cut spark for one cylinder, but my memory is a bit foggy on that... what i'm saying is, check ALL the connections. you'll be good at cleaning and tightening them by the time this is over.

Was the CAS tampered with? That controls ignition timing and could *absolutely* be related to running crappily. Get a timing light, clip onto the #1 cylinder coil pack connector (or the black wire that loops out of the PTU harness, whichever gives you a signal with your light), and check the timing.
