Project "Redbird"... All else fails
Well guys the inevitable has finally come to pass... My father, my mechanic, and I have decided that Project "Redbird", my 1990 300ZX 2 seater has been layed to waste, plan now... Just get it running and sell it. Sad day for this Z enthusiast. But good news, im working for my father again this summer, going to make (his estimate) around 3200 bucks! Sell the Z for about 3g, keep my job at Pets+, make another 1500... and buy a 1992 Slicktop! Good plan? So i'll drive the Z till the end of the summer as is, (my brother works at a VERY VERY VERY good car wash, all the rich people go there to get their Modena's, M5's, Lambo's washed. So hes going to detail the hell outta it, put on a big coat of red wax, clean it up nicely, and pressure wash the engine bay) and sell it then. It only has 104k on it, and I live about 15 minutes from school, and about 10 minutes from work... So im figuring about 109k at time of sale. So I just thought I would let you guys know, and thanks for all your help with the project. And remember... If at first you do not succede... ****, just lower your standards! Peace foo's

Even thoguh it may seem like a waste, really, you're gonna end up getting a better base to work with. You'll have a good amount of money to work with. You can get a nice slick top with that and then come more money...you can either go the route of a really fast NA or a TT swap...good luck with that. Post updates!

yea, it deffinately wasnt a waste, everything is worth while, time goes on. I've learned so much about the car though, its been a great experience. But I think i'll just leave the Slicktop stock, maybe some rims... Maybe. When I get more money, then i'll end up dropping in a USDM VG30DETT, build her to about 425hp, and just have fun with it. But for now, I have to concentrate on getting "Redbird" running. Wont be too bad, set of heads, tubing, and gaskets, will have her at about 200hp I think, she'll never be running stock 222hp ever again, engine is in too bad of condition. But I can get the gaskets, heads and tubing for about $350, $350 on top of the $2100 for the car... Not too bad for an ok condition Z eh? I have had guys and chics at my school offering me $3500 for it... I feel bad about doing it, but they see no problem apperently. (I feel bad because the electrical system is VERY bad, that is the main reason im letting it go) So I guess it just takes my headache away... And drops it twice as hard on a person who knows nothing about cars... i.e Anyone at my school. Haha. But its all good, I'll have it for another 7 months, tops. Then its Slicktop time biiiaatch. . Once again, thanks for your help guys, and please feel free to change my mind . Haha peace foo's

I say drop it for as much as you can get for it.
Screw'em if they don't know what they're getting into. Isn't that what basically happened to you? Just pass of the screwjob to someone else. It happens.

Yea thats a good way to look at it... But then im no better than Fernando Ramos... O well. I'll sell it on autotader, and if someone buys it outta state, hell yea. But I cant screw my friends like that. But I think I'd rather have a Slicktop, nice looking cars, because any Z can be made TT, I think it will all pan out in the end. Well lets figure, 3200 working with me pops, 1500 at my current job, and (now at least, getting offers) 3500 for the Zsta. $8,200, that should buy my dream Black 300ZX Slicktop, I want to get the highest year possible, and in best condition possible, this car is going to be my baby. Then NEXT NEXT summer, (my senior year summer... Its tradition to do something outta the ordinary) Im going over to Phoenix to hang out with my buddy Cameron (owner of Night Szevyn Racing, im one of the few salesmen ) and then it's R34 GTR 4 door time biiiaattcches. I've already designed her out, NISMO body kit, wingless, with GTR V-SpecII wheels, named "Silverback" (Hence its going to be silver ) But for now I need to worry about Redbird. Peace foo's

The star of the Movie is named simply "Boswell" (it is my pen name, kinda like Norma Jean is Marlyn Monroe, Samuel Clemons is Mark Twain) he goes from R33 GTS-25T, to 180sx, to R34 GTR, to R34 4 door. First three are wrecked, or crushed . Long story, the script is incredible, I really hope to make the movie one day. The 4 door is for the climax of the movie, (in real life, there will be 4 of these cars made, one being a GTR for speed shots, the othe three are stunt cars, on the base chassis of GT, those things I can pick up in Japan for about 1200 a pop in rough condition, then I will have to build the to appear as if they are a GTR to the same spec of the real one.) This is my favorite part of the movie... Boswell (driving 4 door) is gunning it down the link bridge between Florida and Key West, (keep in mind this is the jist, Im not getting into dialect and such) when the police copter (refered to as the Ghetto Bird in the movie) comes up behind him and is closing ontop of him in an attempt to slow him down, Boswell seeing this begins to nominate all Nitrous Oxide systems in the car, right before he is ready to shoot the Nitrous, you hear on the radio (mounted in the car, so they he knows what the cops are talking about) "Were right on top of him, get ready to pick up the peices". Boswell says one last statement before hitting 235mph... "Come on baby, hold together..." takes one last look at the nitrous button... And mashes it. "Skyline has increased speed to excess of 200mph... 210...220...230... Hes gone" (once again, keep in mind, just the jist of situation) The next shot is in the engine bay, all you hear is the turbos whistling louder than anything you've ever heard... Wow I could go on for pages with this shot, anyways, its going to be a sick movie hopefully. Anyways, peace foo's

How many threads are you guys going to hijack talking about Nismo's movie? Let's stick to the topic. I agree with Rizz. Cut your loses and save yourself all the time and headache. Sell it as a mechanic's special. Someone will buy it and you'll lose less $ that way.

Damn bro your a by the books guy arent ya, haha. Yea the script is 47 pages so far, and im about 35 minutes into the movie! Every serious member in this forum has a part already, there is a team of JUST z's, 240 to 350. I am deffinately going to need some stunt drivers, I have two already lined up (my boss at NSR, and this RX-7 nut in VA, he is getting his race license in 2 weeks, so he will be of some use to me) so it should be good. Keep in mind though, im only 17 guys, still got one year left of HS, then im attending Fullsail on scholarship hopefully (its a design school) that is a three year program... Then its movie time! Peace foo's

Not sure what format yet, but man I could really use your help, what programs are you using for editing? I use personally Cinema 4D, Maya, FormZ RadioZity, and Premiere. What you use? That climax of the movie is the Florida to Key West link bridge scene, where Boswell hits 230mph in the 4 door (see above). That is going to need some insane editing. That would suquence of shots is going to require some very very intense editing. Lots of wrecks, and I have animated out one animation where a 1992 300ZX 2+2 (TT dropped in) almost gets crushed by a Ferrari F55 (kit car of course, haha) in the middle of an ariel. Then drops it to second, and guns it past, in slow motion of course. So its going to need some editing, so post what you can do, and well see. Peace foo's
