Question about turbo stuff I read??
I was reading on Z1 motorsports about being able to just add turbo components to a non-turbo engine. It says it can be done, but if you maintain n/a pistons, you can only run low boost. What amount of boost can the n/a engine with stock pistons handle?

I'm sure it can be done, but why? You'd need the turbos, TT exhaust manifolds, mid pipes and the intercooler with all the piping. You'd also need to add intercooler vents in the front fascia. The reason you'd have to run less boost is because if the increased compression ratio in the N/A. You also have an issue with insufficient fuel supply. I would estimate 6-8 psi or so. Not worth it IMO.

Don't take my word for it. I'm just guessing. I've never seen it done, so I don't know. You may only be able to run 4 psi of boost with the stock N/A internals without it going *POP*. The stock TT runs 9.5 psi, so it'd be significatnly less than that.

Like I said I didn't do the math ...... yet. I have to some searching.
So I found a calculator that shows how boost increases your compression ratio, ie: 8 psi and 8:1 goes to 11:1 c/r AND 8 psi and 10:1 goes to 15:1 c/r. Now I'm looking for a calculator that show how the increased c/r increases h/p

yah my ricey *** friend did that too his honda..put a no-name blow off on it lol..i think he lost H.P over it in the long run because it cant hold pressure for **** lol its like "riiiiiiiiiiice'splish* lol the blow off makes a lower sound then an old man easing into a warm bath..
