Starting problems

I'm having some problems getting my car to start. Most of the time it fires right up, but when it doesn't it really causes trouble. It turns over fine and i can smell some gas from the exhaust after turning it for a while. I have taken out the fuel pump relay to flush that out but it didn't seem to help at all. I have to keep trying this untill it starts. I was thinking it was some kind of coil problem, but then why would they all go out i would think the car would at least be firing on a few cylinders. Until it actually tries to start i have no spark, no cylinders firing.

Have you attempted the diagnostic process? the symptoms alone tell me a bad PTU, or harness. If you know you arent getting spark, then doesn't that seem like a logical to start trouble shooting? also, It's a really bad idea to just keep cranking it over without spark, as the oil will usually be contaminated with oil and will keep oil from the cylinder walls in spots.

That doesn't really make a whole lot of sense to me.. the oil will usually be contaminated with oil.

I dont really see how the whole harness could give out at once, maybe if it were one or two cylinders but not everything. Unless it's a circuit and theres a short, but that doesn't make a whole lot of sense why they would design it that way.

I just tried switching the egi and the coil harness relays and still didn't help. So that's not the problem unless both relays are bad, I'm just going to buy some tomarrow.

I just ran self diagnostics and i was getting 55 then i got a 13 coolant temp circuit. I dont see why this would prevent the engine from starting.

I think he meant that the oil will be contaminated with gas. Make sure to clean the connections on the CAS and PTU.

On the PTU, when i got the engine there was one wire that was cut. i dont know why it was maybe just happend pulling the engine but i soldered and taped it back together. I guess that's where i'll start next.
