Stock 1991 Headlights

Not too familiar with the lighting system (front low beams) but the stock system is an underachiever.

Anyone have any factoids on a replacement bulb that will "light up the flippin' road" without costing a lot ???

Thanks !!

are you sure it is your bulbs? 'cause I have a '91, na though, but when I first got it I could barely see in front of me at night, so I opened the hood and adjusted the lights a bit to where they pointed up more, and that worked fine for me, didnt have to spend any money also.. always a good thing

or am I totally wrong and do you just want a brighter bulb?

The aim of the light is okay (I did try a higher angle) but the intensity sucks. Not sure if that is the standard or I'm just spoiled from my previous H4 bulbs on my 280ZXT.

I bought PIAA bulbs and they are beautiful and brighter, but since you sit so low to the ground and you really cannot see the road in front of you unless you drive like a granny, it will always be hard to see as you are in the direct light sight of normal cars with a higher stance. These bulbs were $105 though.

Yes...I have the normal sight issue with oncoming traffic but I was refering to dark road and no oncoming traffic. (sorry...never mentioned that). I don't drive like a granny yet...so not more concerned with "normal downrange vision" on low beams.

What is a PIAA bulb and do you have a link to the source site ?
Thx

heres one link, its not where I got them but I cannot remember the place I bought them: http://www.ltbmotorsport.com/bulbs.html

I got the 7500K bulbs which have a bluish purplish tint to them that look very nice and upgrade the look of the car significantly.

You will probably have to look around on the web under PIAA bulbs and find them, but when I get home I can tell you exactly what I got and probably where I got them from.

I used the PIAA Extreme white 9006 bulbs. They work great and are 65 bucks a pair. http://www.ltbmotorsports.com/bulbs.html.

To remove my "exploded" old bulb from the low beam area on the 300zx, I used this method (not scientific but I got it out in 2 minutes on the 2nd try).

Use an allen wrench (3/8" width or slightly larger) and wrap duct tape around the short section so that the sticky side is out (extend the tape so that the wrench becomes longer).

Aim a spotlight into the light from the front so that it illuminates the inside of the light bucket.
Stick allen wrench tool into the light fixture from the bulb side.
Once inside, straighten out the wrench and go fishing.
It's important to "stick" the bulb gently and on the end of it, so it fits thru the hole.
If you succeed, you get to perform breast enhancement thru the nipple on the woman of your choice!

Good luck!
