TUrbo Conversion

TUrbo Conversion
Now i know im going to get flamed for this because its very hard to do a turbo conversion and its almost cheaper to just buy the whole new engine but i was curious as to what the best possible Turbo set up would be in your opinions.......Just looking for some feedback.....

Why? For what?
Just do a SWAAAAP... Sure, you can buy the exhaust manifolds, turbos, all piping, intercoolers, ECU and all the wiring, and everything else that has to be changed, peice by peice, take 8 times as long to do a simple conversion, and end up spending more money.... OR, just do a SWAP. which includes buying a VG30DETT engine, and changing it out with your VG30DE engine.... Now which seems easier to you??? Shoot me back with what you have decided.. peace

Ditto
It'd be easier to spend the money on improving the bottom end and improving other aspects of a tt engine, then swapping it out. It'd be much much easier. It's a proven way to go. The engine is much easier to improve upon when it's out of the engine bay anyway.
If you want a good idea on what you'll be spending take a look at www.splparts.com or www.sgpracing.com
That's just for parts for an engine try www.enginewholesalers.com or www.z1motorsports.com
I'm pretty sure there are others, I just can't remember them right now. There's also e-bay, if you wanna go that route.

Ok if i did want to do a Swap what all needs to be moved/relocated. I already have the site for doing a conversion..Also has anyone ever bought the stroker kit for an NA and beefed up to a 3.2 lieter? just wondering if it would be worth while as an alternative to converting or swappping or possiby.

I dont think the kit was meant for an N/A
If you were going to spend over $10K, why would you do it on an N/A engine anyway? For that kind of cash you could easily get a tt engine and still have PLENTY of cash left over for new/bigger turbos and countless other mods. The stroker kit I do believe is designed for a tt anyway, or else you'd have to ask them to change out the pistons for a higher compression version for the N/A. A swap will NOT be easy. Let me forewarn you now. Best bet is to get a tt front clip. That'll contain everything you'll need, engine, wiring harness, ECU, intercoolers, nuts n bolts, etc. Or you could go the build up route that's popular with those that already own a tt. Obtain another tt engine first, then mod it while it's still outside the vehicle. Once you have it where you want it as far as mods are concerned, you should go ahead and install it. If you like to do it piece by piece and like to take your time this is the surefire way to go. That way you won't have to start with oem components and upgrade later. You therefore would start with upgraded components from the start, benefiting from an upgraded performance and unused parts standpoint. It's all up to you and your wallet. And patience level.
As far as sites with swap info try www.300zxclub.com or www.twinturbo.net
They both have 'stickys' at the very top of their respective forums for the conversion/swap. Be wary of posting newbie type ?'s on tt.net. Those guys tend to be pretty brutal and I'll just tell you what they'll most certainly will. DO A SEARCH. LOL

Getting back to one of your original ?'s
What components would I use?
Well if I won the lottery, splparts.com would be getting a LOT of my money that's for sure. Either the jun or tomei engine parts sets would find a home in my new tt engine. The stroker kit sounds good, but only if I had the money to blow. A new crankshaft is, IMO, not really necessary.
As far as turbos go, I hear the new PE1820's are really impressive. www.specialtyz.com would also be getting a good chunk of change from me. Those tt headers and downpipes are some of the best pieces I've seen. Rps flywheel is at a good price. Those guys seem to really know their Z's. I'm partial to the Stillen front bumper designs. That's about it from Stealin though. They're a ripoff otherwise. New paint and new shoes would be the end of the line for my Z. It might actually be done when/if I ever get it to that point.
Then of course there's always the audio/video system!?! hmmmm.....
