Z32 Recall - All Or None?
I have been reading about the "power transistor unit" recall that says that 1990-1993 Z32's should change it, but when I called up Nissan here in Gardena, CA they said that my car (1990 Z32 NA 2+2) didn't have any recalls? I was like are you sure?
So now I'm asking you guys if you have had they same problem or if Nissan did say there was a recall.

Found out about this one the hard way. Monday night my 93 NA shutdown in the left hand lane of I-93 SB o/s Boston in rush hour. Apparently the Power Transistor will heat up and shut down the engine, once it cools down the engine will restart as if nothing happened.
Push the Dealership, get it replaced. Fortunately my mechanic found the problem and the recall notice, otherwise this would have continued to happen.

this is both ptu's. The one with the heatsink is the one prone to failure(left). This only happened to be placed in a certain number of z's within a specified VIN range that I don't have with me right now. But basically with the pic I don't need it though. If you have the silver one, get the black one. Simple enough.

Oh!! Almost forgot...
In case you don't know where the PTU is located, it's just left of the upper water pump/radiator hose. Some of the connections from it may be strapped to the hose. Hope I helped. Peace.

i had the problem you have there is a recall on it! I got mine replaced about 3 months ago. Go to www.alldata.com and look up recalls you should be able to print it out then show the dealership and they have to replace it, i did.
