That's a hard question to answer. It depends on the drivers. S2000's are very under-rated cars. They are Honda, but they're killer. They're very rev happy and they are light.

From experience the 350Z is faster. In the S2000 there is no power until the high RPMs it doesn't even seem to start to come alive until 5Grand. In the curves well several of our guys in the Z club here are big road track guys and they spank S2000s all the time. The S2000 is a great car but it has no torque and it's weight doesn't make up for that. The 350Z has a nice torque curve and power curve. The S2000 has a horrible power curve it spikes so low end sucks all the power comes on top end. In the 350Z power is available everywhere.

i know for a fact that the S2000 is less of a car than the Z...Go get a Z and race...

Then agian you did say he is a good driver...that might make the race depending on how well you drive...

oh and the z DEFINATELY has more space than the s2000
And if he went to an S2000 site, then they'd say the S2000 was a better car. Tell him to pick up a car magazine (C/D, R&T, MT, etc.) and read. The Z will t, take it hands down. The S2000 is really a gutless wonder. Since it's lighter, the S2000 may feel more nimble, but on the track and on the street, it can't keep up. Also, as someone had mentioned in another thread, "There's no replacement for displacement." 3.5 liter N/A vs. 2.2 liter N/A. No contest.

Except for three things: weight, forced induction, and nitrous.

Well, duh, but we're talking base S2000 vs base 350Z, not the S2000 from FATF. That thing was sweet. It's already been pointed out that the S2000 is lighter. That's about the only thing it has going for it. It's not light enough to make up for its inadequate HP & torque ratings. I still say 350.

And you can tell your boyfriend my 1986 Z31 300ZX Turbo took a brand new 2.2 Litre S2000.

The S2K isn't a bad car. Granted I don't care for open top cars, but it's like a Miata on steroids. Once you get to VTEC, you won't drop outta the powerband during shifts so they are fairly quick, it's getting them into the cam changeover that sucks. VTEC motors pull very hard from a roll. I'm not a Honda fan, but I'm just saying not to underestimate the little 4 cylinder cause they are pretty quick. Their forte is not drag racing, but more auto cross and circuit stuff, much like the Integra and Civic Type R. I'd say a drag race between a Z and an S2K would be a driver's race though from what I've seen at the strip. There wouldn't be any "spanking" of any sort.

I started road racing my 350Z roadster the end of last summer and have done 7 races this summer with one more this coming weekend at Watkins Glen, N.Y. I have come up against a few s2000's. Some older ones with less torque and a few of the newer ones with more low end torque. All I can say is I give a slight edge to the Z, but the edge is so minimal is does not matter. Both are great fun cars to drive. My daughter has a (2000) s2000 and it is a blast to drive. I enjoy them both. This which is faster better is really inconsequential to the average person. It all comes down to ones personal preference. I think which ever one you go with you will not be disappointed. The fun factor in each car with the top down is terrific.

i like both, but i'd rather have the s2k. just something about a 3700 lb 3.5L V6 "z" that doesn't tickle my pickle. i'm not a big displacement fan, so that is my biased opinion. i actually don't care too much for the 350z, and the S2K seems more of a sport roadster than the 350z. JMHO

I have a s2000 and a Z. In a drag race my s2000 will beat my Z. I will put down any stock z on this form. I live in Michigan. Bring it on!! About the Z, I love the car and Is just as cool as my S.

Sorry, but you're wrong.

just get fd3s rx7. You will be happy. I've raced, supra TT, 300zxTT, 350z, s2000, 3000gt vr4, porsche s4, m3, m3, evo, sti, lighting. They have all read my back license plate. You just can't go worng with rx7, but you have to have $$ for maint.

I can run a 0-60 in 5.1 and 1/4 mile in 13.9. I have taken four driving classes because I'm buying a viper is spring. If you want to drive a viper safely and fast you need classes.
