Pre owned 350Zs and potential problems
Hi there. This issue is usually beat to death on most forums (this one too, probably), but I figure I want to ask.
I'm looking at 350Zs in the South Bay area of California and I spotted a couple. One that caught my eye has been modded with the following:
HKS Hipermax Coilovers
Jim Wolf Intake
Motordyne 5/16 Spacer
Drilled and slotted rotors
Hotchkis sway bars
Samco cooling hose kit
SPC rear camber arms
Are any of these shoddy/boy racer parts? The car has 87k miles on it and the owner claims that the first cylinder coil pack is going (I suspect he may not know what a coil pack is becuaase he called it a coil over) and that the plugs may need changing. he also says the CEL is on. Last I remember, coil packs and spark plugs aren't particularly expensive to change. So what kind of greater underlying issues are there?
I come from a Honda/BMW background so by 80k miles, I expect that the following have been replaced. Is this list complete/incomplete for Zs?
Water pump
Belts concerning water pump.
Shocks & struts
(on RWD cars) Rear suspension bushings tend to give around the 100k mile mark?
Anything more? Besides driving the car, rowing through the gears, giving it some revs, what else can I do to stress a Z out?
Many thanks!
