He's superior until he can't afford to fly anymore because of fuel costs.

FWIW, I don't know why you'd change the oil yourself on a new car, when the dealer charges $22 to do it for you.

I change the oil on my old cars, but not the new ones. Filters too damn hard to get off...

For synthetic oil? $7 x 5qts = $35 + filter... if the dealer does it for $22 that is a deal!

They make oil filter wrenches / grabbers these days. Make oil changing easy.

I doubt synthetic,obviously.

But since I value my warranty, I let them put in whatever they say is best. For now...

WEll the last time the d'ship changed my oil, it leaked. I've did it myself since then. The 350 is actually a very easy car to change the oil on (once you get the 14 bolt plate off....).

as far as motor functions and engine oil yes. yes it is. they do use aeroshell oil though because anything that has a function in the plane needs to be FAA certified. and its not me im saying is superior at all, its the strict guidlines and testings in aviation that are superior to automotive. yeesh. and u can pick up the 5 qt jug of mobil 1 fully synthetic for like 15 bucks at wal mart FYI

If you buy the car new from a dealer they will often change the oil for free for as long as you own the car. The $22 price is not accurate for any dealerships I've seen. Not even Jiffy Lube will change the oil that cheap with a discount. Besides, dealerships and shops use entry level workers to change oil. They leave the filler cap off, dont' put enough in, strip out the oil pan threads, get fingerprints all over your hood, ect. I take care to do it right on my own car and it does not take long. I'd rather do it myself at home in 20-25min than wait for an hour or more at a dealership. I also do not want to use the brand of oil they have or the poor quality oil filters they use.

I had a good friend who managed a Jiffy Lube for a while. He had a new story each week of how the kids at his shop screwed another customer's car up. He recommended not ever going there.

I had to take my z31 to Iffy Lube once when i had nowhere to do it myself. i told them to ONLY do the oil. don't touch anything else, even if it is on your silly little list of crap to do. well, sure enough, they ignored me. i got about 10 miles down the freeway, and started overheating. pulled off at a gas station and steam is pouring out from my radiator. the morons had taken the cap off, and when they put it back on, they didn't tighten it, just set it in the hole. Iffy Lube can kiss my ***.

My old roommate worked at Iffy lube. He drove a Audi TT into the pit. Took 2 tow trucks and a cutting torch to get it out. That owner was pissed.
