If any of youz guyz wants ta join me in Bliss, my local Mossy Nissan Dealer has TWO New GT-R's in the showroom. A Grey 2010 and a Black 2009. Both had their prospective owners bail out after ordering them.
Oh yeah,
And THIS...
Sitting between them!

Welcome to ZDriver!
You are a Corvette owner and called the Z06 a "ZO6" ?
Cool, do you own a Datsun / Nissan Z as well?

No... it's stupid. And quite a large generalization too. So you're saying ALL Z Cars (70 - 09), modified and stock "are not all what they're cracked up to be."
pft... that's just like saying ALL CORVETTES AREN'T WHAT THEY'RE CRACKED UP TO BE.
Please explain "WHY" for us who actually DRIVE Z cars more than once.
Oh man... you're either 16, or quite uneducated when it comes to the topic of cars.

I have never seen a Z stock or modified that can do 0-60 in 3.5 seconds and none of them come close to a 11.4 second quarter mile when stock.
I bet you don't even own a Corvette. If there even is a Vette at "your" house it's probably your dad's and you drive an old Celica.

No, the Vette is mine. And no, my parents never bought me anything I wanted. I worked for what I wanted. And it's funny you should mention me driving an old Celica, I actually do have a 91 All Trac. It's pushin about 320hp at the wheels.

I don't get it.
The base model vette doesn't outperform the base model Skyline. Sure the Skyline base price is a little more then the base vette but you get a handbuilt high quality product that is consistant and functional. If you look at the problems vettes have had over the past 10 years with quality issues then spending that extra 10K for the Nissan seems like a better idea to me.
I guess the sad part is the American perspective.
We take a big engine and build a sports car around it.
The Japanese take a smaller engine get as much out of it as they can dependably and then build a sports car around it.
Remember the Japanese have to import all the materials they use it has been that way for a very long time. Americans just go to the back yard and dig it out of the ground. Of course we build big engines, of course they get as much as they can from as little as possible, it's been our respective philosphies for decades.
Do we all forget that Mazda kicked everyone's *** in race cars for years with a rotory engine? (787B) That was a 2.5 ltr displacement car.
Yes the new vettes are nice and do very well on the track but remember its the american economy that drives the foreign market to make sports cars. Japan hasn't been doing that hardcore in America for many years. Think RX7, and Supra. It was cost that killed those cars not a Vette.

Oh?
Isn't this debate played out by now? If you are a car enthusiast you surely know which car has pros and cons relative to the other.
I was giving benefit of the doubt above... you actually don't know. Oh well
The ZO6 is faster not to mention the ZR1 that'll eat it alive.
Oh, and don't pull out the Spec V argument either because the Spec V has absolutely no performance advantage over the base GTR.

I love it when ppl join a forum for the specific purpose of telling people who love their cars how much they suck compared to their car. Other vehicles have their merits and the Corvette has become a low cost super car just like the GT-R. I have a friend who owns one and is a very skilled driver/instructor and has modified his Z06 for track use. The interior sucks - seriously put a little effort into your interior - it's worse than the 350Z was...
Funny thing is that it was the Corvette that the Datsun 240Z came and destroyed in 1970 - same performance for a fraction of the price. In an instant it busted the doors wide open for the Japanese automotive market in North America. Another interesting note was the 280ZX had almost identical perfomance figures to the Corvette (1/10th of a second between the two). That was for the N/A - the turbo blew the doors off the Corvette. Oh yea and didn't the Z32 take away the title of "North American Sports Car of the Year" that the Corvette held for ever and proceeded to holt that title for the majority of it's time in production? No wonder he's bitter about a Nissan product. Don't worry though - the Corvette is still considered universally an old man's car AND a ***** extension so he still has a few titles to cling to...
The Corvette is an amazing car with an amazing history. I just don't want one.

I still wouldn't mind a Corvette someday. But they are a different platform, style, and performance. I don't care if they are the quickest, best handling, etc.. I have a lot of memories wanting Corvette's as a kid. I want the '60's or '70's ones though. Just because they are sick looking, and overall the best body styles in the Corvette line.
Anyway the point I am making is..That comparing Corvette's, GTR, Z's etc.. Is like comparing pears to oranges. They are not the same, and all have good and bad points.
