1972 Datsun 240Z California Bay Area
Pre-75 meaning no smog necessary, everything on the car is original or I have the original parts. The car originally was bought brand new by my coworkers brother in-law. The Z then made its way to his wife, and she stored it in their garage in Morgan Hill for 10 years. I recently acquired the car around 3 years ago (after finally convincing them to sell me the car), and spent the time getting it into original shape.
Starts beautifully on cold and hot days, runs quiet yet very powerful. Mechanically there are ZERO problems, does not overheat, leak any fluids etcetc.
Body-wise there are a few dents (from his kids when it was in his garage), a dent on the driver side quarter panel (see picture), as well as it is missing the driver side mirror (which I do have but the mount is broken).
The paint is not original, it was originally a dark blue, and now it is more of a burgandy cherry color.
Very little rust, on spots are on the kicker panels which is just surface rust. Floor pans have zero rust, and the battery tray has little to no rust.
Interior is close to a 10, the tranny tunnel panels need a good cleaning, but everything else is perfect. The seats look and feel brand new, no tears/rips/distress marks.
The driver-side window needs a new rail, it goes up and down smoothly but it rattles.
The car was babied it's entire life, especially when it entered my care. Always garaged, under a custom cover made for the 240Z.
I have all the original emblems, side moldings, everything. I will throw all the spare parts I have for it as well, 3 original 72 hubcaps, brand new headliner from theZstore, random box of parts. I wanted to keep this car to be passed down in my family but I recently ran into financial hardship. Registration is current, no need for smog.
