1978 280z v8 swap for sale
for sale is a 1978 280z with a Chevy v8 conversion. the outside has almost no flaws, was recently worked on by previous owner.
i bought it, but am in the military and have no time to finish it. the previous owner had done the conversion, and i was in the process of repairing.
the engine is a 350 v8, with a 3 speed automatic transmission, and a b&m racing shifter. it was designed for racing, and i was in the process of making her road worthy again.
Great small project; interior was gutted for racing. there is no carpet, no heating no radio. i found original seats and put them back in the car, as the seats it came with were from a Nissan 300z, and weren't bolted in. i was in the process of completing the interior, i insulated it with dynamat insulation. the car has almost no rust at all, previous owner had the outside immaculate, and it has been sitting with me for the past year, most i have done is start it and drive around the block, and then cover it back up, since i'm out of town often.
i changed the front brakes, but never had time to get to the drum brakes. the differential when i received it was an r 180 from a 240z, which i quickly replaced with an r200 from an 87 Nissan. i believe its limited slip with a 3.75:1 but i can check my paper work.
the dash is perfect, racing rpm gauge with rpm rev limiter built in, speedometer isn't hooked up, on account of the v8 conversion. all other gauges work fine, fuel pump has been installed
virtually all the work has been done on this ride, aside from interior, and it wouldn't cost much, especially if you did the work yourself.
feel free to email with questions of if you want some more photos i will gladly email some
also below is a video the previous owner had posted for me, the main differences would be that i installed an aluminum radiator and now there is a layer of acoustic insulation on the front interior. i also put the cover back on the shifter
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssDyXoyuvps
like i said, there isn't alot wrong with this small project, i just am in the military so i dont have time to work on it.
i asking 6000$ OBO
