1983 280zx Turbo Engine & 5 Speed
Hey everybody, this winter I'm going to do a swap in the car, so this drive train has to go. It’s the L28ET with the 5 Speed manual
I got the car not even 3,000 miles ago from an older lady that had ended up wheel chair bound so she could no longer drive. Given that, I assume the car has been babied. The engine is un-touched and un-molested still has factory features and everything.
The lady claimed that the motor was rebuilt at some point but couldn’t remember when, it doesn’t appear so on the outside to me but I don’t know why she would lie.
This engine runs strong and is still surprisingly powerful. It has 114k on it right now, the transmission is smooth and all bearings sound good, I think it may need a Reverse Syncro though
Recent Repairs:
-Starter
-Slave cylinder
-Cap, Rotor, NGK Plugs, Bosch Wires.
-Clutch Kit, (Previous Owner) Less than 10k
-Boost Controller
The Motor does need:
-Exhaust Gasket
-Turbo Rebuild (Has Shaft Play) but runs @ 9psi ok
-Valve Cover Gasket, Leaking Oil
The engine is in the car still and can be driven to check it out for yourself if you want to call dibs on it. The clutch master cylinder is out on it right now, so once that’s replaced it will be drivable. I plan on driving it until the snow starts coming down, probably mid-November. But once that happens, it’s coming out for whoever wants it.
If you have any questions what so ever, contact me via email for fastest response at travis.stiehl@att.net
Thanks, Travis

Location? Pics? Price? If the engine is in good shape, why are you doing a motor swap?
