Update:
Here is the eBay link if anyone is interested.
I will knock off $700 for board members, enough to cover
the shipping.
eBay auction
I am just testing the waters to see what I can get for my "baby".
I had planned to convert the car to "TT" but am finding it hard
locating a reputable shop that can do the work without thinking
it is worth an obscene amount of money. I am left with the choice
of liquidating the car and buying a factory "TT" or keeping her as
she is and forgetting the notion of having turbos.
It was purchased in 2003 from the original buyer, a woman that
I gather had been going through a mid like crisis in 1991 when
she purchased the car. She had is garage kept all those years
and after 2 fender benders, she decided she needed a front
wheel drive car. Car fax confirms she had two minor fender benders:
09/21/1998 New Jersey Police Report Accident Reported
Vehicle involved in crash
with a parked motor vehicle
09/28/1998 New Jersey Police Report Accident Reported
Involving left front impact
with a parked motor vehicle
One week apart! she garaged it and hardly drove it after this...
and when she did, the auto trans went out and she forked out
$2,700 to Hilltop Nissan to replace it, 2 months later I buy the car.
The car looks and drives pristine. After we got it, the a/c stopped
working and since I work for an area auto repair chain, I had it
diagnosed only to find the part---a suction throttle valve--- was
discontinued and no longer manufactured. After several calls to
many area dealers and to Courtesy Nissan I was about to give up
when I called my local Nissan field Rep who got me in touch with the
design team at Nissan who worked with Courtesy Nissan to find
and secure the last suction throttle valve in North America! It came
from Canada and now my a/c is ice freezing cold with a new rec/dryer
as well as a new expansion valve to go with the new suction throttle
valve.
I also replaced the alternator, the radio, the center molding between the headlights and added zeon headlights (the ballast type, not just a
blue bulb), replaced the rotors with cross drilled slotted ones, replaced
all four shocks, all four tires, added indiglow and chrome to the dash
and replaced the heater core. I made a special box that contours the shape
of the trunk to fit a 12 inch woofer powered by a Zeus amp.
We also swapped the cloth seats for leather ones in very good condition.
I am just looking to get an idea of what someone would pay...and maybe
if the offer is good---to actually sell the car and look for my "TT".
