Frozen Motors.

HEy guys as you might already Know or maby nto well I picked up an S13. with an SR20DET swap in it. the compression is bad on cyilinder #3 and the Starter is dead. I tried push starting the damn car btu no luck. so anyways yeah. it seems liek the starter solenoid is cliking but the starter is not going off. so Im gonna try and replace it tomorrows. if it still dosent crank waht else can it be? My friend was sayingmaby a Frozen motor. the car was sitting for 6months non garaged, any inputs on this?

try turning the crankshaft with a ratchet and socket, and see if it budges. If it spins freely, you know the motor doesn't have anything mechanically "frozen" with it.

I do know that when my motor had water in the oil, the engine would stick.

Do as fast240z said, but make sure to pull your plugs out first. Or the compression will make it hard to spin and may trick you!

yeah, do take the spark plugs out. You can still spin the motor, but if you don't know if the motor is frozen or not, the compression will trick you.

When you tried to push start it, did the wheels lock up when you let the clutch? If not then the motor isn't frozen up.

unfortunately yes. when we tried pushstarting it. the rear wheels locked up.
