i have a good understanding of ooo, i've been doing it since 7th grade or so. it's just the units being thrown in there that is throwing me off. i do just fine in math. it's just that chemistry teachers always just play this off as easy stuff and not really teach it too well. so i just had to bring math skills over, but the extra element caused me to ask for some help.

what year are you? i thought you were older

Dude, I have students who can't add/subtract fractions with variables (they think it's treated differently than regular old fractions with integers for some reason). Over summer I taught high school math and had students who didn't understand that a negative number minus a positive number is a larger negative number. I also had students who didn't understand that a negative times a negative is a positive.

And KasbeKZ, having units on the problem doesn't treat it any differently. They give you [( )g * ( )m^2/s^2] and want gm^2/s^2. A gram measurement times a meter squared per second squared measurement gives you an answer in gram meters squared per second squared, which is what they ask for. So just remove all measurements, do the math, and put the measurement they want later.

CuSO4·5 H2O

is that CuSOtiny4 all times 5 and then 1H2O, in one molecule? or 5H2O?

i didn't think that it was 5h20. but it is a very weird way of writing it isn't it? why not 5CuSO4?

uh oh. looks like we were wrong snw. that's the standard way to write hydrate formulas. a dot, the number of hydrates, and the H2O

or college graduates.... its helps if they were accepted into the acedemy, because usually its for being a pilot if they are made into one lol. my flight instructor just a year ago went to my school she got a flight block wtih the AF i think she mighta done AFROTC though, but theres always the marines and the navy and the army. but that was an option what i want to do not my decision.
