i thought it was the ignition module and changed that (130 dollars) and it fixed it so it would at least start again but still started to randomly cut out. also the ECU wouldnt turn off from that. theres no more power comming out of the ECU but the power is still going in. the ECU has many grounds on it that are functional and not screwed, i still have this undoubtable thought in my mind that its just plain and simply the ECU. it never hiccuped on this install untill spring time/summer time started to come around and rain happened.

All the cars you mentioned, I have owned. The Dsm's can make big power but brake stuff constantly. And when a engine goes, it goes big. Punches holes, tranies allmost cracked in half, broke axles.
The Miata's all ways leave you wanting more, and a turbo'd Miata is even more finicky than a turbo 260Z
The 240SX again you'll want more, the turbo ka has issues, and finding parts local for a jdm sr is impossible, plus lots of halve assed so called tuners out there to blow your **** up.
The supra's, you want power from that engine get ready for the big $. Supra parts are not cheap.
The lowered Honda, I don't even want to start. Cheap coils or lowering springs will have you on the bump stops. Good suspension costs $
Having a modified car is a bitch, it may be cool to have a hoped up car. But if you can't handle the contant problems and constant maintenance, go back to stock. Sorry bro, it's the truth. A friend of mine just sold his 700 ish hp VR4. Got sick of the constant tuning, and breaking all kinds of stuff. It got to the point where he was literally afraid to drive the car. It either ran like a raped ape or ran like **** or would blow up. It is just the nature of having a modded car.
Get a dd and put the 260 on the back burner, or go back to NA

well, talked to the mom, went down how i thought. YOU DONT NEED TWO CARS!!!! for about a half hour. she said i get to tap into my savings so i can do what i need to do and have till halloween before the car has to either be gone or running reliably. this means im going megasquirt with an EDIS setup. hope this works, if not i got to sell all of it and most likely will be leaving you guys for sure then. but until then, i get to have fun spending money.

a 280zx non turbo all stock should be a reliable DD too. ...maybe a 2+2 if you want 4 seats
Fix that 260Z though. the body looks good. $100 for an ECU is kinda pricey. If I had one I'd sell it to you and actually send it to you!

megasquirt with an EDIS setup is great just be prepared to read read read articles on this setup on ms website or megatune. your gonna be trouble shooting alot of things....i dont see why you dont use your current turbo dizzy with ms. you could literally get the thing up and running in a day or 2 without doing much trouble shooting. ms with msd is very very easy. you can hit me up i can try to help you if you get confused.

Snw...why on earth would you talk to your mom about another car??? You couldn't talk to them both at the same time??? I knew that was not going to go in you favor as soon as I read "I talked to my mom...." I know just about every woman I have ever ask a question, their first response is NO...unless it was something for them. No offense or anything. Hey Snw...if it doesn't work out by your deadline, give me a call...I want the rolling chassis ok, you can sell all the other stuff but I want the car. Just don't rape me on the price.

rape you? lol, there was a guy a few miles away when i put up the chassis for sale for 3k that wanted it almost no haggling for his stroker motor he built, had to have a 260 for some reason. but i wasnt to ditch the distributor. its a pretty easy install from what i was reading. using the FORD EDIS system there is a direct write up i found once on megatune or the MS website for MSII. it was just connecting spark plugs to teh coil pack, plugging in teh coil pack to the EDIS itself then teh VR to the EDIS and getting the engine to TDC and placing the VR sensor over teh 5th tooth i beleive after the notch in the EDIS wheel, then wiring 4 wires from the EDIS system to megasquirt. i would like to see the MSD setup though, might be simpler. only problem EDIS is going to create is mounting the wheel to teh damper pulley and at the proper place so the VR sensor can be mounted properly over teh right spot.
