JDM siezed up
Just put a JDM from Foreign Engines Inc out of Lynwood WA.
Engine was a bit dirty, cleaned it up and put in new seals, gaskets, water pump, checked the radiator, followed their guild lines. Engine fired right up. Adjusted the idle(the engine came from a manual). Drove the car for 50 miles and about 1/2 mile from the house the temp gauge shot straight up to H. The car shut itself down and ended up pushing the car off the road. Got the car into the garsge and could not even turn the crank bolt with a four foot cheater. The chap from F.E.I. said that it was a case of extreme overheating and could he find another engine for me. Yea the little metal tab was melted in the center.
Thanks
Al

1700 to my door. Came with turbos, power steering pump, coil packs, partial efi harness. A/C compressor, downpipes, O2 sensors and other bits and pieces. The worst part is the warranty. One year if not over heated. Has the little tab on backside of the head. It entire time it ran, never went past the half way mark, then shot up and died.

what i noticed, since japanes people usually wind up replacing the engine any way when it comes time to inspect them they run the **** out of them.
when you get one as a front clip it usually comes from a car thats been in a wreck.
also what i have noticed is alot of these "japanese engine" places up here acually run arround the junk yards pulling motors out of japanese cars yea they are japanese engines for japanese cars but they arent JDM.
saw a few of them today at the PaP in Arlington even.

The term means it was made for and originally sold for the Japanese Domestic Market.
My Fairlady Z was sold in Japan new. It was brought to the US in the 1980's as a used car. It is "JDM" but I don't call it that. It is not a converted right hand drive 240Z.

he'll just keep saying to himself "one of these days I'm going to fix it up" and it will just sit and rot until he dies or something will destroy it, things already rusted to **** so I'm choosing option number 1.

not quite. it was sent off for paint and body work not too long ago. he's going for nice driver, not full blown showroom resto.

i think i actually knew some how about it going off to a body shop, didn't know it finally happened, i just knew it was going to happen. how was the rust on that thing anyways? also, im not blue anymore
