New guy... sorta...

I'm new to the site, but not to Z's. I've had mine since 2003. Bought her in San Diego right before I got out of the Corps then shipped her to Dallas where all I did was put miles on her. Now I'm in Utah and I keep her in a garage. I finally got a second car so I can baby the Z.

Anyway, Im just wanted to say Hi to e'erbody.

Thank you. I'm still working on getting my Z registered here. It has a crack in the windshield and I doubt she'll pass emissions. Back in TX she has been exempt for a few years. How old does a car have to get to be exemt from emissions here? I've only been in Utah a few months and I have no idea how the classic/antique status works here.

1967 was the cut off for emissions. All cars 81-95 must pass the same emissions test (96+ is OBD II).

This is the PDF of emissions standards / cut points (right click & save as):

http://www.utahcountyonline.org/apps...dCutpoints.pdf

1.2% CO
220 ppm HC

Awwwwww Total bummer. Maybe I'll just leave my Texas plates on it. Hahahaha. Thanks for the info, though. For reals.

As long as the car still has a good cat, just turn down the timing & it should pass emissions. An oil change & new NGK spark plugs will help too.

Where abouts in SLC are you?

I have a hole somewhere towards the front of the exhaust that I need to fix, but other than that she'll probably be okay. I'm down in Sandy. Almost into Draper.

Nice. I actually moved to Lehi a few months ago, so I'm right on the other side of the point of the mountain from ya... though my shop is still in Bountiful.

Awesome. My uncle lives right up there behind Cabellas so I'm in that area frequently. I love living up here. It's so clean and everyone is so nice. It's absolutely nothing like Dallas. Utah FTW!

w00t! Right on. I have a welder, so if you need to weld up the exhaust, lemme know.

Awesome! I would love to find some Z drivers in this area to learn from and hang out with and the like. Any reputable Z clubs in the area?

Indeed. www.utahzclub.com

Mostly 350z / G35 guys, but there are a few Z31 / 280ZX guys too. They go on cruises / meets all the time, and most live around the south end of Salt Lake, so not too far from you.

I'll have her out on the street as soon as she's legal, assuming it's before we get snow.

At the pace I'm going, it may be next spring before I get mine back on the road...

I hope I can get mine out soon. It's so close to being ready but my disposable income is quickly diminishing.

Pretty sure my baby won't be on the road until next spring, so I feel your pain, audiofreak. I took on a million hours this semester and haven't had time to do much of anything but study the last few weeks.
