considering , all but like 5 race cars I have touched where GM, I would think that i would have accumulated some knowledge on them. The only difference between a camaro and pontiac (70's era) where the: front body clip, badges, tail lights, motor mount location, bellhousing bolt pattern and different color/sticker options. That is the only difference. I have torn enough down, destroyed enough and built enough to know this. (also the only thing non-pontiac body/chassis wise is the front nose, which is from an 85 IROC, but is the exact same as a firebird.

yea... like I said, you just keep telling yourself that. I don't think I'll tell my dad, who's been racing and building Pontiac-Powered-Pontiac's for 30 years now, he might just die of laughter or disappointment, or both...
And yes, one's a '76 Firebird Formula, the other's a plain-jane '76 Camaro...

Let's see,
the heads are different, use different chamber designs and have exhaust port extensions which makes changing spark plugs oh so easy to change...
The crank has a larger main journal size (either 3" or 3.25" mains)
longer strokes than most, if not all, chevies (stock)
uses a valley pan seperate from the intake manifold, so the intake is in no way in contact with oil.
different timing cover, and therefore uses a different oil pan
different water pump
open lifter bores (there's no webbing between most of the lifter bores, as opposed to chevies where there's an oil galley running between them and completely webbed up)
different starter placement
Pontiac never had a "big-block" or "small-block" designation, all Pontiac V8 blocks from the 326 to the 455 all had the same outside dimensions.
basically nothing is shared between the two.
Oh, and saying you'll beat him in one of your autox cars is just an excuse for not being able to make enough power to beat him where his car was actually built to run (although his '77 T/A is no slouch in the corners)

also unless you dad is driving an all out time attack car, 530WHP in a 2500 pound car with 12 inch slicks up front and 13 in rear, one crazy *** driver and wilwood brakes, he's gonna be left in the dust faster then when that zo6 tried to keep up at willow.

he'll buy a chevy but wont buy a GMC because he thinks their crap even though the drivetrain is freakin the same.
fire chicken, cramarow....same ****in thing, stupidly minor differences
who do you think makes a pontiac? or used to. you think they are going to make something thats COMEPLTELY different? do you realize how cost ineffective that is?

Same chassis for the most part, yes, but nearly every body panel was changed between the different companies. (on top of Buick's having Buick motors, Pontiac's having Pontiac motors, Oldsmobile's having Oldsmobile motors, etc. etc. up until '81 when they stopped making Pontiac motors altogether)

well either way, both are horribly ugly cars haha. the late 70's all the 80's and alot of the 90's were TERRIBLE times for american cars haha. uuuuuuuugly underpowered and still gas guzzlers. finally got better in the lat 90's and currently but were amazing in the 60's and early 70's. honestly though, the 80's was a lame time for almost every car company in my eyes except porsche haha. so many ugly cars from the 80's BLAH!!!!!

lol, 2.8l efi engine was standard since 1975 models. nothing transplanted. and its easy to swap to manual. i have a set of manual pedals to sell if you want, well after i get another S30 that is incase i end up with an auto and need them myself.
