Okay... maybe I'll stick w/ this one?

I've been through so many vehicles lately, I feel like a "car *****." So I got a motorcycle.

1986 Kawasaki 454 LTD, belt driven. It has 18K miles, and not a thang wrong. The guy I bought it from drove it to work, one day it wouldn't start and killed the battery trying, so he parked it over the summer... got sick of seeing it, and sold it to me for $600. I bought a new battery & tried to start it... good spark, wouldn't start. After 2 hours of messing w/ it, I found out that the fuel shut off valve was in the off position... turn it on... crank crank crank, and it starts.

Anything yellow. I know, I've always thought motorcycles are death on wheels... but I've wanted one to cruise around town for better mpg. It definitely won't be my primary mode of transportation.

Good luck with the bike, nephew hit a deer on one ( he lived with a lot of plaster), when i met my wife she had a Honda Goldwing in the basement and a new Bell helmet in a box in the attic. When I asked why a new boxed helmet she explained that when you break a helmet Bell is nice enough to replace it with a new one, which explained the Goldwing in the basement.

didnt watch the whole thing? blew an oil line, so that was just oil hitting hot engine/exhausting.

my really experianced work freind, just fell off his harley sat. night. car came head on, he ditched it, problem was, there was a fence in the way, namely the fence pole. he is in a whole new world of pain. still alive, but one side of his body didnt do to well. this is the crap that happens when idiots screw up.

Sweet bike!

Reason why I can't have any more motorcycles:

1 Motorcycle + 1 truck going way too fast = 47 broken bones, 6 months in Hospital, 19 surgeries and 1 REALLY bad day.

scary in snow in upstate ny, but bikes are fun with no helmet----just watch out for all moving and non moving objects----gawd, the 60's were fun.......

I've been lucky....12 years of riding and have never been down, and I've had nothing but sportbikes and riding in the town with possibly the stupidest drivers on earth. (of course this don't count the time I had a fat chick on the back and made too sharp of a turn into a parking spot at a Mexican restaurant...). You just have to be careful.....most motorcycle crashes CAN be avoided. You just have to have a defensive attitude and NEVER assume someone in a car sees you, even if they look right at you. Also, a good idea to put a finger over your front brake lever when going thru intersections, just in case.

Z Hag, IMO, riding a motorcycle is alot more fun WITH a helmet. Less noise, less wind, and a hella better chance of survival if you do go down. And modern helmets are very light weight and comfortable (and look pretty cool), and don't believe the Harley riders argument that helmets obstruct your vision and hearing, thats been disproven time and time again. Theres no helmet law here in IL but I ALWAYS wear a helmet. Its just not worth the risk....

Cute little pea-shooter. My dirt bike has a bigger motor.

There are two types of motorcycle riders ..... Those that have crashed, and those that are going to crash. My dad road and raced motorcycles for over 50 years. At age 65 he took the motorcycle safety training course and said he learned ALOT. I'd consider that good advice for anyone that wants to ride a street bike and survive.
