Either way, it's rediculous. What about sellers from other countries? They could fake being in the states and charge sales taxes to give themselves a little more boost over the competition. Seems like another way the government is moving business out of the states. Make things too complicated to do here and no one will want to work here.

Many ebayers are / were becoming small companies on ebay. There's a lot of car part wholeseller businesses... if they are taxed, guess who gets to pay more for them to cover the difference? The buyer...

Make sure and click on the "Take Action" button and do your part to oppose these new taxes.

Hmmmm, I'm a little leary about sites that require me to login to my ebay account when I'm already logged in and stay logged in with a cookie. Not to mention the site isn't owned by eBay it's owned by Akamai Technologies . Don't know who they are, but the whois info on their sites says nothing about an affiliate of ebay and the company info pulls up a japanese network and software company. I'd like to support it, but I don't trust the site.

I agree with you, my account has been broken into, enough times already. I got tired of somebody saying, here is one thing that happened. "How would you like to pay for your Rose Bowl tickets?" And they were $1500, because somebody broken into my account. Also others, were an expensive digital camera, and a few other things. After that, I only logged in, on E-bay itself. I have had no more problems, since then.

As for the tax, if it keeps up, and it does go through, E-bay will feel the crunch, over time. Because a lot of people will no longer sell or buy. I think it is a stupid #ss move. Anyway I would be one of those people. and my feedback is almost 700. Just my 2 cents, prove to me the site is trustworthy, and I might consider voting. Otherwise, I don't want to take the risk.

That's my point exactly. I couldn't find any info on the site saying it was valid anywhere on the net and there's only a handfull of pages on it according to google and all of them want you to log in to vote on something. Not my cup o tea. Anyone who has logged into it, keep an eye on your account, I'm betting it's a scam.

So the link in that eBay news letter goes to that ebaymainstreet page? I never received that notice and I do get everything eBay sends out. Either way, the government can't tax internet sales. That would be rediculous. Who would track it? eBay? Hell no, they're providing a free service world wide. How could they track each and every seller on their autctions and keep track of who is in the US and who isn't so they can keep tabs on taxes for audit purposes? Boston tea party nothing. We need to have a boycot the rediculous corporate government strike. Pick a day and shut down the country until they start pulling back off all these damned taxes. I got a $300 bonus from my company for the new year, I only a $200 increase in my paycheck. they too $100 of that in taxes. I know they take a 3rd of everything, but come on, God doesn't even ask that much. Not to mention you pay taxes everytime you buy something in the stores, and gas tax. That's insane. NC is running a gambit here. We have the highest taxes on gas in eastern US. And yet we have some of the lowest income areas, where is any of this **** making sense? Ok, end rant, sorry I hate taxes and although I know they are necessary, I don't think they need over 1/3 of my money.

they used to take 1/2 of mine when i was working------get a good tax man/woman to get back all the money you put into income tax--there is a way----legally----and that helps somewhat.......no reason to have to pay tax on income--is unconstitutional.....look it up, mon........

Ebaymainstreet is a legit site. They're eBay's small business site. They do conferences, seminars and lobbying for small businesses on eBay. I tried to "take action", but after signing up, it sent me to a page with a letter to my Rep about healthcare, not taxes. The bill about healthcare is actually one I don't support, so I didn't send the letter.

My net federal tax bill after all is said and done has been in the 11% - 13% range for many years. Now that I have no more kids to write off, I expect it's gonna go up some.
