New GT2 rules for 2005?

I'll probably never be able to afford it, but I still like to keep tabs on what's going on in the GT classes. John Coffey over at HybridZ mentioned there are going to be substantial rule changes for next year. It was my understanding that nothing has been official yet. Anyone hear otherwise? Any idea what some of them are?

Nope! I will be buying the GT-2 rule book and the solo 2 one when they come out though. That sucks about what John said about the rollcage grandfather clause. On the other hand there could be some extraordinary, cheap open track cars becoming available.

What did I miss about the cage changes? Will the rules still allow using a GT2 legal car in FP? That is the way you can use composite doors.

Having fun "Vintage" racing,

Alan

I think the main hoop and supports have to be .120 wall D.O.M. .095 wall is only allowed with a chromoly tubing. GT-2 legal cars can still compete in FP with weight penalties. What the penalties are is part of what is changing in FP.

Don't trust me though, the rules will be out soon and we can cry about how much we have to spend then.
