Hey Ben,
According to the How to Modify your Nissan/Datsun engines the factory rockers are more then enough for race engines. I have never seen any other rocker options available. At least thats my knowledge of the rockers

Hey Ben,
I have never seen an aftermarket rocker in my 25 yrs of messing these cars. I have run the factory rocker as recommended in the datsun bible. I have tried smoothing them thinking it would stress relieve them but I never broke one anyway. Flipped some off while floating the valves(missed shift) but used with cams to 630 lift on 102 deg lobe center and no trouble. You just have to stay on top of the valve adj. The smoothing did look good though...but under the v/c who sees it. But as far as perf goes hard to beat factory equip. Thats why no one bothered to make different ones I reckon. Now if you have a perf. cam new retainers are a must to accomodate the lash pad req. to keep the geometry right.

In one of the two books they did mention lightening the rockers. It seems feasible. Any truth to this? I was lazy and left 'em stock.

I recall seeing some prototype roller rockers online a few years ago. I don't recall who made them, just that they were only being used in a boat and a sand dragster. Oh, and that they were rather pricy.

<EDIT> 2/23/04

In a flash of lunacy I think I remember where I saw these...
Malvern Racing. The web site appears to be down at the moment though.

can anyone give me an idea of the cost of rocker arms as I am having no luck with getting a price from nissan usa and nissan uk are taking the p£$%^&* with thier price and unavailability. I know i could use used ones but it would be nicer to have new as I am in an engine rebuild at the moment. cheers ben

Courtesy Nissan lists them @ $31.45 each X 12. Ouch! Might want to consider getting your old one reground.

Rocker Arms

You might try Napa Auto Parts - I think they're national. I just got a set for about $15 each. I used them on another race motor for about 5 years without any problems (until the oil bar vibrated loose).

Napa rocker arms

The local Napa store is at 559-292-6272

I'm not sure if they can ship overseas - but they do have stores all over the US.
