1991 Corvette

Well I picked up a 91 Vette from the car lot today to bring back to the shop for a detailing. I really don't see what the fuss is all about, really, I don't. It handled FAR better than my 82 280zx but then again I have not gotten the Tockico shocks and springs...thats way down the road....but I got on the Vette pretty damn hard and it felt good but not what I thought a Vette should feel like. I think it is very very safe to say that my friends '96 bone stock Cobra would whoop that Vette in a straight line race, maybe even on the curves. The Vette is rated a 245hp and 345tq, the Cobra is 305hp and 300tq.I think I need to drive a manual Vette and see if that helps but I am pretty sure it has a 700r4 in it and they have a beefy first and second gear. Now that I have driven a base Vette and the Cobra....I think I would rather own the Cobra. ZR1...that's a different story all together.

Yeah... for some reason everyone thinks old Vettes are supercars... They handle good & have decent hp, but they were just so bland through the 80's & mid 90's. The C5 was a much needed change.

and yes... the ZR1 & Callaway Edition Vettes are a diff story.

No, I didn't buy it....I have a ZX, no need for an overpriced overated car....I was actually brining it back so I could wash and wax it then a bunch of other stuff like clean the wheels.....lalalalala, shampoo the carpets....windows...you know, detailing...I do it on the side for extra money.

whew. still got da z. whew.

a vette is just another chevy, buty with less ground clearance, so they do not off road well. they are also iffy in rain and turns at the same toime. not as bad as the cobra, which does not steer in wet conditions.

good thing ya still got da z--keep it.

the z32TT crapped all over the vettes from that time, in every aspect. as a matter of fact, the z32TT crapped all over a lot of cars from that time period.

why are you comparing the s130 and the 91' vette, there ten years apart. The z32 vs. the vette would be a better example of the vs's. But what ever, my buddies dad has a 86' vette, that i try and race all the time, he wins. But i say how much did you pay for that. 10g's he says, well i paid 200 and if i put a grand into it i'll beat you so what...and he gets all pist its quite funny.

hehe ... that's what all the ricers say: man, I bought my Honduh for $2k & dumped $10k into the engine & can walk all over any car!

They keep forgetting it's still a honduh.

yeah honda's suck. they can be fast, but after a 100g's they still aren't the same as any zcar. done up or stock. I'll take my beat *** z over any 10g honda...plus i might be able to beat it. Well if they do like most do.

boyz, boyz, boyz-----the vette is such a lummox in the turns--the only vette worth a ---- that i saw on the race track was the "cobra eater" vette--only 14 made, had capacity for 14 quarts of oil--when they lew a gasket, they screwed upo the entire track an RIR so bad---------

but they were fast. and pretty. but still were boxes in the turns. usa cars just do not corner worth a cr-p.

thius is according to my objective observation while flagging scca, cal club.

14 quarts of oil !!!!!!!!! You'd need a life raft to get out of the car after dropping that load The Vette is more of a high speed cornering car. Need to take a high speed sweeper? The Vette is your car. Need to pull out of a hair pin with a little momentum? You want something smaller like a....Z

I still like the Vette's, especially the '60's, and '70's. The 1965 Vette, is one of my dream cars. It has to be a hardtop, painted black, with a rat on the hood. (black rat) And either a 327, or 427 powering it. And of course any vette from '63 to '82. Before they changed them looking like turds.

Probably a big reason, why I love the Z also. As some people have said, to somebody with a Z. "What year Corvette is that?" LOL

I've gotten that. Back when I was in tech school I went to lunch with the same guy everyday for two weeks in my Z when he finally asked me what year my vette was

"GOOD" vettes were those nice, smaller , older --up to 1977--or 1978--whenever the stingray body stopped being produced.

14 qts oil--tg there were only 10 made!!!!! the cleanup on those at RIR was gawdawful--took forever to allow course to get 'hot' again!!!--tata was a boofitul vette. could ALMOST corner
