2006 Z06
Has anyonr read the specs on this car.
It has an 7.0 liter small block with 500BHP.
Redline is 7000.
And it is dry sump.
It will do 0-60 in under 4 seconds.
it will do the the 1/4 in under 12 seconds. and top speed is 190MPH.
And the car weighs in at a slim 3130 LBS. Most of our Z,s weigh more than that.
It has 18x91/2 front rims wrapped in Goodyear F1 super car tires 275/35ZR-18 and 19x12 Rear rims wrapped in 325/30ZR-19.
The front brakes are 14.0 inch with 6 piston calipers using 6 seperate brake pads.
13.4 4-Piston with 4 seperate brake pads.
I think that is an awesome setup. the seperate pads will have better brake cooling and less fade.
And since it is a small block i am just going to hang out and wait for some fool to total his so i can get the motor for my Z.
I am actually trying to convince the wife to let me spend 55k on a new Vette. I am going with the 400BHP version. i am thinking Black for a color.
I recommend reading the article in Road&Track Feb 2005.
Also check out the new Chevy Cobalt SS.

I have researched Z,s from all years and the C6 is the most refined since the 1969. the C6 give both extreme handling and nice comfort. The oldder 60 Vettes are just classic looking. once they went to that goofy 70,s 140BHP setup they just became crappy until now. I went and test drove the C5 50th. I like the exterior but, yes the interior is cheap. Themotors did not impress me either. The 50th one dieseled on shut down for over 5 seconds. the second C5 I drove was nice the motor sounded good, but a lot of indacator warnings were going off onthe dash. I also could not get the the back hatch to close withoout slamming it. The center console did not close at all. And best of all is they wanted 43k.
I said i will wait for the C6. They both had less then 25k miles.
I do think i will be buying a C6 this year or next.
They make a supercharger for the 6.0. They are using it on the 4.4 in the new Cadillac V series coming out this year. Also all the engines are built, 1 motor for 1 tech. maening that 1 tech builds the entire motor like in NASCAR shops. This insures qaulity, it can also make for horsepower and torque differences, but nothing real noticable. i am thinking of waiting to see if they come out with that offering. The horsepower out of a supercharger on a 400hp motor is just awesome. I also believe maintance would be cheaper onthe standard C6 than a Z06. Could you just imagine the horsepower gains on a Z06 with a supercharger. NICE
Well off toplan my Vette. I am thinking Black

The new vetts are awesome, best american car ever made. If you can afford one go for it pritty sure your wife will love the hell out of it too, LOL I know I would! Black is the most beautiful color on a vette and a Z I beat a C5 the other day, it was not a Z06 though plus it was from a 55mph roll I had the advantage. The C4's, well I won't even go there, I own them everytime

Just looking at your avatar Canyon, it reminds me of a "Pimp My Ride" episode where a Nissan Maxima had a Datsun emblem on it and they were like "what the ****? your car is confused on what make it is!!!" and I was thinking to myself, isn't Datsun produced my Nissan, sorta like Infiniti. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

datsun was the original name of the company, and I heard that they changed the name because datsun made fighter planes in WWII, and they didnt want to be associated with that anymore. during the name change their cars had both names on them.

Also, interesting is the history of datsun and the number 23.
Anyway............ if you note in the past that alot of winning nissan/datsun factory race cars had the number 23, it's because "Ni" means 2 and "San" means 3 in the Japanese language.

THAMN !!!!!!!!!! I finally got around to reading my motortrend mag for February. THAMN good rightup on the new Z06. I don't know who all knows, but besides a 500 h.p., 7.0 liter V8 engine, this car will only weigh 3150 pounds. THHHAAAAMMMMMNNNNNN !!!!!!!!
All aluminum chassis, carbon fiber fenders, magnesium engine cradle, magnesium roof, balsa wood and cf floor panels. Only an enzo ferrari and some $445k porsche will have a better power-to-weight ratio. Ohh yeah, only $75k - $85k.

Not to tske anything away from the Z, but you cant even come close to the abilities of the new Z06. 400hp, zero to 60 in about 4 seconds without a super charger or Turbos. It can also pull 1.02g,s on a skid pad. The guys at Chevy did one hell of a job on this Vette.

I'm sure you meant to type 500HP. And yes, you're right about the Chevy engineers. Why is it that they can make such a kick *** sports car, but the best sedan they can put out is the Malibu or the Impala??? Come on,...drop a detuned Z06 motor into one of those and beef up the suspension a bit to compete with some of the European and Japanese manufacturers.
