280zx VS turbo eclipse

well I recently got a 91 eclipse GST its nice...but first I wanted to find out how fast this car was against my 280zx (my sig shows the mods to the 280zx) but it ended up being the opposite of what thought, this stock eclipse, stock 10 psi boost..left my 280zx behind by about 3 cars

*but anywayz just wondering does anyone else have a (turbo)eclipse out there????

My friend has a GSt. it's a 98. he's boosting 23 psi. on a greddy 16G turbo. He wasted the hell out of my Friend (Z32 TT) so yes eclipses have potential don;t be upset.

The downside of the Eclipse and the Laser are longevity. They won't last nearly as long as a Z.

Depends on how often you boost it. My dad has a 91 Laser AWD, pushing stock 10psi of boost, and I raced my friend in his 94 BMW 325is, and I smoked him by 3 car lengths and more. We did a few runs, and on one of them, I missed my shift into 2nd, and I still flew past him.

Longevity wise, the Laser has 200,000 miles, turbos still work, but it needs maintenance here and there, I think it needs an engine rebuild, but it still runs.

DSMs are pretty cool. They can be fast, but I've seen multiple stock turbo, stock injector, stock intercooler Z32TTs , including mine, eat well built one's alive. As far as it beating your 280zx, go turbo, build that, then race it. It will more a lot more fair.

from my experience, srt-4's and evos are pretty even. I think it was a driver error on the srt-4

SRT-4's are ****. it;s speed on a budget. i don;t care how fast they are. theya re ****. if we wasted a boost controled SRT4 on teh freeway with a lightly modded Z33. srt's are ****.

SRT4. Mopar exhaust, intake, and boost controler

Z33. OPtion Import test pipes, NIsmo Intake.

teh Z33 cam in liek 2 18 wheelers ahead of the RT4.

i have a stock 280zxt that is set to 15psi that has 300k miles without a rebuild, and it still pulls hard.

My brother has a lightly modded 95' Eclipse GST and it is a fast car. Eclipse's are nothing to mess around with, I would put it up against a Z32TT any day.

ok, I think srt-4's are VERY underestimated! There was a guy on supraforums that had one that put down well over 500whp on STOCK INTERNALS. I'll repeat that if needed. Oh and this car runs 10s. This isn't the only one like this. There's another on there that has about 440whp on stock internals. Doesn't sound so weak to me.

He has a point SRT-4's are mainly hated because of the price/ for it basically being a "DODGE NEON" / and that it is a domestic and NOT a japanese import TURBO car. And dodge made ther power plant of the SRT-4 pretty powerful, and very capable to prduce much more than stock...

on the eclipse/laser subject,

my friend has a Talon TSI that owns most cars around here on the street. I dunno what all he has done to it, but it's pretty quick.
