89 Camaro Clutch problems
Ironically The 280ZXTs have the same transmission as my Camaro tho mines a WC Version.
ANYWAYS
Maybe you guys can help me with an annoying problem, If I have my clutch pushed in and I rev it even a little past idle it will make this almost vibration like sound. I take it a bearing is going bad? Or the clutch itself is damaged?
Secondly what does it mean when the clutch pedal is very hard to push down? pretty much harder to push then the brake pedal kinda
Thanks for any help guys! The "Camaro Forums" Has blown me off on this annoying problem

how could it be harder than the brake pedal? and the old american muscle manual trannies had a very heavy clutch so it should be very firm, as long as its working normally is what matters. also, its probably just your throw out bearing thats bad.

Well I can smell burn kevlar or w/e it is after a spirited drive so somethings bad lol
But I dont get how that clutch can be so hard for a hydraulic clutch system a T5 WC No less. Its very annoying really

check operation of the master and slave unit, they could be not disengaging the clutch properly. and yes some of those v8 cars had super heavy clutches available. only problem with them is you cant shift as quick due to the force your foot requires to move it fast. get a stock clutch to lighten that up. the noise is most likely the clutch not releasing all the way or t/o bearing. the smell means you may be riding that heavy clutch to get the car to move. if its multi-plate its a must.

second shady ^^^^ in fact, from the sound of it, it might be time for a new clutch setup anyways, its hard to push the pedal, noisey, and smelley (though after a spirited drive) means either the clutch is just old now or you suck at driving stick lol.

I dont suck at driving stick! lol The car is a few years old now sense I got it and Before I used to race in it a lot. SO ya, I'm positive its about time to change it out. I can push the clutch to the floor on each shift but Geez that sucker is heavy.
Ive never heard of a TO bearing making such a bad vibration that you can hear and feel in the car. Oh well. I'll have to take the transmission out and replace it anyways, may as well change the flywheel too

Hmm I always thought a TO bearing would scream and get louder as your push the clutch down, Never heard of it vibrating *shrugs* Either way when I take the trans off Im gonna replace everything in there.
