Just saw a G35 coupe kill a mustang
I was just driving home, and this mustang and g35 coupe come flying past me. They were racing, the mustang was a cobra, and the G whooped it's ***. Are the G's all that fast? The mustang sounded like it had a nicely worked V8 in it, and was scratching gears all the way through third.

When my step dad had my Z he would race 5.0's & win.

The mustangs have some nice powered V8's under the hood, the problem with those cars is they generally weigh so much. Usually in the 3500+ or more range. Even the new mustang gt 500 weighs about 4000lbs.

That may explain why they are trying so hard to be the leader in new alternate-power (Hydrogen and Ethanol) cars. I guess they figure, once the new technology kicks in, they will be the commanding champs of the auto industry again (....we'll see)......

well, a friend of mine has a '82 GT and said that he managed to smoke a G35 coupe. cant recall what he has exactly under the hood other than a 5-liter 4bbl. but thats one helluva way to stick it to "high technology" cars when a car using "Dinosaur technolgy" manages to smoke you.
and one more fact, my '85 mustang GT (also a 5-liter 4bbl) weighs around 2800-2900 lbs.

actually...5.slow's aren't fast in the stock form, but can be made so. However, it takes a lot of mods. old muscle cars are some of the fastest drag cars (street)...it's not about old tech sticking it to new tech...it's about mods. I'm sure your buddy is heavily modded. I garuntee he doesn't just have a few basic bolt ons. My first car (*** civic) was able to beat my friend's 5.0 which had flows, an intake of some sort and some kind of chip...this was an 89 I believe (LX). slow.

Its ALL about mods. I had a 65 Mustang which, from the factory, is sickeningly slow. But after some very HEAVY modifications and a 302 swap it was, to this day, the fastest car I've driven in a straight line. My buddies Z32 TT being a close second. Another highly modified vehicle (til it was stolen anyways )
