My Dream Truck
Yes you read that right. I finally am going to have my dream truck. A 1972 Chevy Custom/20 4x4. I am making payments on it, and my goal is to have it paid and at my house by summer at the latest. Here are a few starter pics. Enjoy!
And this truck will have quite a transformation when I am finished. I am just going to get it running when I get it home, clean it up. And some other misc. things. More to come.....

^ Nah it is the standard 350 combo. Trans and engine. I believe they are original though. My goal when finished is to put a '60's 327 Corvette motor in it. I have wanted to do that for years. I would have posted sooner, but I had trouble signing into my account. lol

Wow it's been quite a while
Hard to believe how long it has been since I posted in this thread. As of June 20th 2014. I am the proud owner of a 1972 Chevy C/20 long bed 4 x 4 3/4 ton pickup. It is not home yet, but will be soon. I will probably have to end up towing it to my house. As it doesn't run yet, but that will change down the line. As the truck will become quite useful in cleaning up around here and such. And of course I will be fixing it up slowly. It needs a few things to get running, then that will be the start. Will keep you all posted as I go.
I was discharged from my job on May 28th, and struggled a little. But survived and made it through with people's prayers and the Grace of God. I started working at O'Reilly's today. And will be a delivery specialist part time. (parts runner) Thanks to the help of my brother's best friend getting my foot in the door and putting a good word for me. I have been on unemployment since my firing. And also have been flipping ipods for extra money to help with things. And that is gong pretty good.
I have also been dong quite a bit of home improvement mainly adding more ac units so we will be more comfortable in the summer months. I hope this winter to start working on my '83 280zx again. Will see how it goes, and where I am at that point in time.
As always, your comments and feedback is welcome.

Me too
I just lost my job about a month ago, we had rumors of a slow down, I was asked to take a few days off because it was slow, I call back in to speak to my supervisor and she is no longer there, I called HR, my good friend Amy fired too. No one is talking about what happened, good thing I am getting Unemployment. So far about 50 applications and resumes submitted, only one call back. So I feel your pain, thank goodness you got work. No matter how bad things look sometimes, good things are always right around the corner, just out of site !
Congrats on the new Job !

^ Thank man, appreciate that. And it is something different and I move around more. So I can get more into shape again.
So last night my brother and I looked at my truck again. And it turns out the driveshaft was hanging by a rope underneath. We just couldn't see it before, because it was so high up, and the truck is pretty high stock as it is. Will need to redo the u-joints and such on it. Then the brakes, take the carb off my Firebird so I can drive the truck home. So hopefully in the next couple of weeks I can get it here and do some more things on it.
In the future I think I want the 35 inch tires with a 4 inch lift for starters. Probably wont happen until I get it converted to a short bed. As it is a long bed, and I have always wanted a short bed. But they are high priced and too expensive. So it is a lot cheaper to convert it myself with help. I have a brother in law that did it with a '68 he had, and it turned out great. That is all for now, will keep updating this thread as I go.

Update:
I started buying parts that I need to get my truck running and eventually home. Should be in the next couple of weeks. I bought a majority of the parts today at work. This weekend I am going to try and pull off the master and brake booster for the core. I also got a rough quote from a nearby shop I deliver to that cater to classic hot rods, cars and trucks. They quoted me less than 1k but possibly close to 2k. To convert my long bed to a short bed. Then I will put a 4 inch lift with 33" tires. More to come....

They are and I have wanted one for long time. Nice truck bro'! In the end I want to put a 327 with Corvette heads. It will have massive horsepower and torque. Because I will do a lot of hauling and four wheeling with it.

Update!
It is alive, I got it running last weekend. My plan is to have it home this weekend. It runs like a champ, and I do have some videos on it. I will try and post them here. They are on you tube.
I need to replace the valve cover gaskets as they are leaking. Then replace my master cylinder and brake booster, bleed the brakes and do the brakes on the rear. (put them back together they are drum brakes) Hook up my driveline, refresh the oil in my differential, then drive it home. I am so close, I can't wait!

Well....I hit a snag. The driveshaft I bought was too short. Actually shorter than my original '72 driveshaft. So now I have to call a shop and see how much it will cost to lengthen it. I need 63" or so in total length. My original driveshaft is close but short a few inches. It really annoys me, that somebody changed the rear end to a '75 which is completely different in about every way. Including being a different generation of truck. Mainly why I am a purist, and try to keep the original parts on my vehicles. And stay within the generation and or year of the vehicle. It makes things a lot easier and avoids unnecessary headaches.
Anyway I am done with my rant. I have to wait until I get some extra money. Whenever that is....That is all for now.

I got it home a while ago, sometime in October. I decided to drive it home with the front wheels. Then I drove it to a local custom shop, that I deliver parts to, and had the drivehsaft lengthened. Also my brother hooked me up with some practically brand new 31 inch tires, for my 16" 8 lug wheels. I drove the truck a few times to work, than somebody tried to steal my battery in broad daylight. Now I am paranoid about driving it anywhere. That I just run it every week in my driveway. I need to modify the hood to be opened from the inside. And eliminate the outside latch, as well as alarm it here down the road.
I will get some pics up when I get a chance. I changed the mirrors to the sport style factory ones. Also the fact that the holes were in my doors. Eventually I will cover up the holes where the trailer mirrors were mounted and such. I did some work inside not a lot. I need to change my sending unit so I can see how much gas I have. lol
Overall it is a great truck, and I am super happy with it. Will post more, as I go along. Thanks for looking.

I am probably going with a '73-'87 inside hood latch assembly. As soon as I get the money up. Haven't done much with the truck, been uber busy and broke. And of course I have been sick these past few days. I will post the pics I took when I get a chance.

Update on my truck!!
As I mentioned in my Firebird thread. I daily drive 3 vehicles taking turns weekly. My truck is running like a champ, and I recently picked up a nice deep double locking lid toolbox on craigslist cheap. I also bought new air shocks for the rear with new lines. And next I want to get lift blocks for the rear so the truck sits even. I will try to post pics, but I may need to find another photo site. Any suggestions?
Anyway that is really all for now, more to come. Thanks for reading.

Hey Wildman, I believe you'll still be able to post pics. Just use the link that has IMG next to and paste that in. It worked for me on a test post. Glad to hear that the truck and Firebird are doing well.
