Even tho you passed the HC this time, it's just as likely you'll fail it next time, along with the CO. You might try advancing the timing a coupla more degrees and then maybe induce a small vacuum leak somewhere to help lean it out. It's known to work on the z32. We'll assume that your o2 sensor is working properly?

Car has good compression, brand new O2 sensor, new spark plugs, replaced coil packs (had a weak one), no air filter, idle was about 850 according to the machine. Tach said 750. 1100 is the limit so I can only bump it up a little.

The vac leak sounds like it would work. Knock the idle as low as I can then open a small hose to leak in air and that'll raise the idle up to 900 or so. good idea. Then use some more of the special juice in the tank.

advancing ignition timing usually hurts the emissions test. Retarding it is where it got better in my case.

Thumbs up

The piece of junk passed emissions!

I did the vacuum leak to lean it out and that did the trick! Now I can drive this gutless wonder and do some serious work on my Z

Cruise
HC Limit: 160
HC Test: 85

CO Limit: 1.2
CO Test: 1.2

Idle
HC Limit: 220
HC Test: 200

CO Limit: 1.2
CO Test: 0.37

PASSED!

I'm going to advance the ignition a little so I bring some of that power back. Its not just a little weak, this thing kind of drives funky. There's a little something wrong with it, but oh well. I won't even have it by next year

WTF are you talking about???? Are you seriously retarded or do you speak some "alternate" version of English that the rest of us aren't privy to???

Please tell me the difference between "Emissions Testing" and "Smog Testing"...

rod, idk if i should be callin you the idiot back or just tell you to get back on whatever you quit and is making you polly pissy pants cause its called sarcasm. im pointing out the difference in language over emissions compared to calling it smog. i get it that its the same thing, just me, from IL where there isnt the smog related problem due to being below sea level such as your selves. i felt like poking fun and making a deal out of the word usage of emissions to smog.

Polly Pissy Pants say's "Screw you hippy!"

I still don't get it though... Sarcasm only works when it's inteligible...

hmmm, snw, usually jokes are meant to be funny. your emissions/smog joke failed miserably and made me want to kick puppies.
