Poor lil Geo
My Geo let me down today on my way to work. Damn timing belt snapped @ 214530 miles. On the bright side, Geo's have dished pistons so it didn't mash the valves. I called in sick, towed it home, and spent the afternoon replacing the belt. $40 and 4 hours later she's back for another 200k miles baby!!!

that's pretty cool though. very convenient change! is yours a 4-cyl? i've heard that the 3-cyls didn't last long at all. less than 100k before they were done for, even if you changed the oil and took care of it and all. what model is it that's so reliable?

You heard wrong. The 3-cylinders are very reliable. Back when I was in the dealership world, we actually had a guy travel down from Michigan (to the south side of Chicago) to buy a 3-cylinder Metro we had on our lot. He probably spent more on traveling than the car actually cost, but he was looking for that vehicle specifically.
And what kind of Geo do you have, NismoPick? I had a Tracker for a few years and I loved it. If it had handled highway speeds a little better, I would've never gotten rid of it (3k+ rpm with the 3-speed to keep up with traffic took its toll on the engine - lot of pressure at that RPM and I ended up constantly blowing coolant hoses). Thing was INCREDIBLE in the snow... better handling (and less problems) than my Blazer.

that's pretty cool. they do seem to be pretty impressive cars. have you seen the guy that converted one to hydrogen? not the on board cell that doesn't actually work to date, but he just runs it on pure manufactured hydrogen. i guess you could call it manufactured. packed by man.

Indeed it's a 94 Metro 1.0L 3cyl. I bought it in January w/ 203k miles for $200, put on a new MAP sensor & cruised it. Zero probs until this belt.
Ugly as hell, but at a consistent 50mpg, I can't give it up.

4 door or 2 door?
i had a white 93 or 95 geo metro cant remember the year. it was a 2 door with a hatch. i put some it in wheels with low pros that i got for free and i swear it looked like a civic dx. with the bigger wheels it handled really well too.

Go big! Get some 14's. flare the fenders and put on the 280ZX 14x6 star wheels.
you can put some beefy tires on that one... maybe 185/60/14!
'
Now I want a Geo... but I'd have to factor in the cost of a full cage inside. Actually, it can't be worse than driving a 240Z as far as safety goes

Because you're too fat? I'm 6'5" and 170lbs... I fit fine. Seat back.... arm out.
I took the back seat, belts, and spare tire cover out... stripped to the bare metal.
