Now, Before the other day I thought that the Sentra Type-R's were pretty decent cars for what they are....Until i was driving to my girlfriends house in my moms car (a 4 banger 04' Eclipse) and i came upon this guy in a Sentra type R with exhaust and i dont know what else. He was buzzing along and i like to race no matter what car im in, so i pull up next to him and he has his gold watch hanging out with window...i have my dog hanging out the window...so we start to go at it and my moms car actually pulls away from him...His was a manual (i could hear/see his shifts in the low gears) mean while my moms car is Auto..

Either the driver sucked or im no longer impressed with those Sentras

 

He probably thougth he was fast cause he had a FWD SR20 lol.

 

Lol Thats Funny I Raced A Nissan Sentra Type R In My 1993 300zx 2+2 And His Car Had Some Serious Mods After I Pulledh Im Over To Check To See What He Had, Never The Less I Was Able To Keep Up With Him Useing Low Gears In My Atuo Tranny

 

he thought he was so bad ***, it was pretty funny to beat him in a 4 banger auto tranny eclipse

 

There's no such thing as a sentra type R. There is an SER. They're pretty decent cars...anyone can badge their car accordinly by the way. The newer ones have a Q25DE (I believe that's the engine code) in it...the older ones had an SR20DE.

Just take a stock Sentra and paint it silver, put on some black and blue stripes down the side with a rear whale tail spoiler. Sentra ZXR!

 

Lol.. that reminds me of an old mercury(I think.. not sure) minivan I saw yesterday with a huge wing and front bumper 6 inches lower then side skirts... I laughed so hard the pic on my phone came out all blurry

 

There are a couple of possibilities here. The first is that the car was an SE-R in badge only... The second is that the kid flat out can not drive... The third is that he wasn't trying to race you. A bare bones stock Sentra SE-R Spec V will smash a stock Z31 between stop lights at will. It will also embarrass a Z31T and ANY 280ZX ever made in the same fashion. It's a very quick little car that is not to be taken lightly. It will obliterate an Acura RSX type S or a Civic Si as well. It has slightly less HP than those two cars, but it has WAY more torque and as we all know... Torque is what get's you moving. Sorry to rain on the parade.

It wasnt a race from a stop. It was a rolling start at 80, and i know he was racing me because i pulled up next to him, he looked at me, and i heard his exhaust get louder as he floored it, as he kept looking over at me to get a response from me. It wasnt a teenager, it was some like 30 yr old guy from what i could see

um, I beg to differ with you...they're fast cars, but I know that an SER spec V will not embarrass a Z31T from experience. I worked with a guy that had a Z31T with nearly 200K miles on it that worked another guy that I worked with that got a brand new (05) spec V. We helped Izzy (SER owner) buy his car and it's quick....but not a match for the stock Z31T. Both cars were manual's (Spec V's are all 6spds). from a roll, from a stop...it murdered. However, I garuntee you that the Spec V could kill a 4 banger eclipse without any issues...no matter the race.

 

Careful with the Eclipse's.. Say non - turbo, 4g63 turbo's can murder everything short of a built Supra

 

Werd, watch it around the DSMs, any 4g63 will put you in your place.
You want a bunch of speed with pretty good power for very little money, get a TSi or GSX, the ultimate first turbo car.

My bro has a Spec V SE-R. It's not a bad car. Runs low 15/high 14's with the usual I/H/E combo. Stock was a 15.6. Drag racing isn't its forte though, the twisties are. That car will go through turns very quickly. The HLSD does wonders to put down the power. I can't keep up when we hit the backroads and it gets tight. I figured it was driver, but at a local autocross we both ran approximtately the same times in each of our cars. (he drove mine and I drove his too) Pretty impressive since I'm about 7 tenths quicker and trapping 4 mph faster in the 1/4 mile in the Z.

I was picturing a 1993 Sentra SER, not a 2004 SER Spec-V!

Me and my friends talked about that sentra today and everyone in the "racing" scene around here knew the car i was talking about, we think that its someone who just badged it as an SE-R. My other friend actually has an 03 spec V Sentra.
