3/13 Autocross Roll Call
Who is going to the autocross on Sunday March 13th? Those of us going should set up a time to meet before so we can drive in together. Unless you don't want to because we have to be at Sam Boyd by 8:00am at the latest to have time to register and get teched before the driver's meeting at 8:45. So here is the list, add yourself...
1. Mike (mbonanni1856) Pre-Registered
2. Rob (rob209) Pre-Registered
3.
4.
5.
FIRST TIME AUTOCROSSERS: PM me on how to get 1/2 off your first race.

I just checked the pre-registration list and there are 72 cars pre-registered. Only two of them are 350Zs. We need to have a good turnout for this event so the entry fees don't go up. I know that alot of people are probably going to NASCAR or the N.A.S.A. HPDE event in California, but we still need a good showing. So far it is just me and Rob defending the 350Z against five S2000s in and some other cars BSP, and no-one is signed up to claim the crown for the 350Z in B Stock. The 350Z is expected to dominate B Stock this season since the S2000s have moved to A Stock. So pre-register now and use your car for what it was made for. Besides, it's only $20 for you first timers.

I will be out there with a digital camera and an easily transferable in-car camera set-up. So Rob, if you read this before tomorrow, I would like to ask you to take the in-car cam along on your runs, and we can switch off. If you don't read this then I will just talk to you about it tomorrow.

The autocross was a great time today. Over 100 cars were entered. Everybody got an extra dose of sun and fun. There were several Z cars, but only Mike and Rob were representing for 350's. Here are a few of the photos I took. First is Rob nailing an apex. Next are two of Mike going for gold. Last is my weapon of choice for the day. I promise I will drive my LeMans Sunset at the next event.

I had an awesome time at this event as well. I was really impressed with the way the Z handled with its new coilovers, sways, and race tires. My best run was a 40.192 which was good for third in class. Two of those old 280Zs were way fast, running 39s. John, thanks for all of the good photos and video. Not to mention a ride in that sweet Porsche of yours. I only got a few pictures, but none of them are that good. I need a new camera. I will try and get them to you within the next couple of days. Rob was going fast as well. I rode with him for his first lap. Thanks to Rob and John for coming out. Now we just have to get the rest of the guys addicted.

do you guys really think the 350 has a chance in BS ? , so far they haven't done well.
Even without the S2000 they are still lagging behind . One of the local Northwest guys sold his AS S2000 and went back to the Porsche 968 and they won the San diego tour . HP to weight comparisons favor the 350. Anyone actually build a competitive
BSP 350 yet ? It looks like the Evo will be heading from ESP to BSP here soon. Sounds like you guys had a grea time in the sun

As far a the Las Vegas Region goes, the 350Z could own BS. Last season it was me, S2000s, and a Porsche Boxter. Oh and the occasional RX-8. The only thing I had problems with were the S2000s so now that they are gone...

I need to keep in touch with you guys . One of the guys I met last weekend
is waiting for his track model to be delivered . He is currently running DS in a Spec V .
I might need to pick your brains a bit.
Mikey how do you like the Puma driving shoes ? Mainly can you wear them most of the day , or do you have to swap out when you work the course .

I like the Pumas. I have worn them once the whole day with no real problems. They aren't the most comfortable all day, but they are good enough. Now I change into flip flops when I am not driving because of the heat.

The results are in!
Rob took home 8th out of 11 in BSP edging out a 1971 Datsun 240Z and a couple of Honda S2000s. His fastest run was 49th fastest out of 107! Rob did an awesome job for only his second time autocrossing, and I know he would have done better if he didn't have to leave early.
I took home 3rd out of 11 in BSP behind another 1971 Datsun 240Z and a 1973 Datsun 240Z. My fastest run was good for 12th fastest out of 107.
John was also out there but not in his 350Z. He brough out his 1974 Porsche 914 and came in second in ASP, getting edged out by a 1993 Toyota Mr2. John's fastest time was good for 38th fastest out of 107.
So there you have it, everybody in the top 50% for all of the drivers out there. Congrats to everybody.
