Help me pick a Racing Helmet

I have +/- $200 to spend here:

what would you go with? I know nothing about helmets. I don't really care about looks so much, I just want safe, breathable, tight, comfortable.

I use these guys.

I personally prefer open face. But I have both if I need them. Simpson makes excellent stuff. Your biggest problem is going to be figuring out your head size. I'm an XL, Domus Giganticus.

I think that those are all motorcycle helmets. Which isn't a big deal as long as the are Snell 2000 certified or whatever it is.

It's going to be hot regardless in the summertime. Actually the moto helmets will have better venting, but they will be rendered useless because there's no forward air moving over it.

I don't see where it has the ratings for any of those helmets on that site. Might have to call to be sure about what you're getting. Some track events tech inspections don't really care about the rating as long as you have something on your head. Some can be very picky about it though.

If I were you, I would go to...

American Racing Supply
222 W. Utah Ave.
(702) 382-8520

Thats where I bought my helmet. G-Force full face and its Nomex lined for under $200. I would definately get something Nomex lined not only for safety purposes, but certain organizations like the Las Vegas Region Porsche Club of America will not let you on the track without a Nomex lined helmet or a Nomex head sock.
