Is my insurance company smoking crack?!?!
Just got my offer of renewal and these guys want $2840 for 6 months! Thats just about 470 a month. Thats 10 bucks shy of the damn car payment. Heres what the policy is lookin like, tell me if this is complete bull ish or what.
Bodily Injury: 25K/person 50K/occurance
Property Damage: 15K/Occurance
Unisured motorists: 15K/30K
Comprehensive: 1250 Deduct
Collision: 1250 Deduct
and glass coverage.
Those deduactables are OUTRAGEOUS! Now I know that I'm only 19 years old but holy ish. I got one ticket for an unsafe lane change in my 03 Explorer last June. Got 4 points on record, went to traffic school and had them wiped. My nex ticket was for going 85/65 in my 03 Jetta in March, that ticket is pending, being reduced to a parking ticket. My next 2 were in the Z this past month and are also being reduced to parking tickets. These tickets after beign reduced would have no effect on ym insurance.
The Z was wrecked by a valet at boullder station in april. This accident was found to be no fault of my own and rates werent affected. I am still attached on my moms policy and she has been a customer with farmers for 11 years. I am technically a disabled veteran from the Marine Corps, and have never made a late insurance payment and what does that get me? a 500 a month payment

Buy a '78 toyota. Liability shouldn't be more than $60/ month for you.
Seriously though, shop around for another insurance company. For a car I bought for myself when I turned 21, the insurance company I had at the time said I was too young to own that type of car and they wouldn't insure me. I found another company and didn't have a problem( the rates were good too).

Get your free CLUE report. It's like a credit report for your driving record. Make sure there's nothing on there that isn't supposed to be there (like that valet accident).
Going to traffic school no longer lowers your insurance rates. Insurance companies stopped using your state issued driving record for determining risk many years ago. You can have no points on your license and still have 4 moving violations on your CLUE report. The only way to keep a ticket off your CLUE report is to have it reduced to a non-moving violation. If the judge leaves the ticket as a speeding ticket and lets you go to traffic school to avoid points on your license, it will still be on your CLUE report as a moving violation.
I wish I could feel bad for you, but I can't. When I moved to Vegas at the age of 19 (back in '92), I was paying $300/mo. for liability only on an '82 Toyota Tercel with no tickets or accidents. If you factor in inflation, that's not much less than what you're paying. At least you're driving a cool car and have full coverage.

Dayam thats harsh..however,
Unsafe lane change. Not good.
20 miles over the limit for your second ticket. This can be considered reckless driving.
The next two are unknown ( at least here) but both in one month.
And an accident with the Z. Is that right?
How long have you been driving? 2 years, maybe 3 years.
You are averaging two tickets a year and and accident every two years.
That my friend is waaaay above the average for a driver in the valley.
That is how the insurance company looks at it. I am not saying it is right..I think your paying way too much. Good luck on shopping around. Farmers is probably not the best company for you.

Well that unsafe lane change was stupid. I didnt use my turn signal. If i wasnt leaving for boot camp, I would have fought that ticket to the fullest. The one for 85/65 is now a parking ticket. My next 2 in the Z were a little up there. (70+/45 and 57/25) These are also being reduced to parking tickets. Insurance company said that the accident was in no part my fault becuase I was nowhere near the vehicle at the time of the accident.
It's not like this 500 is gonna make or break me, its just the fact for the type of coverage and the outrageous deducts I should be a paying slightly less.

Any 2 door sports car you drive under 21 and actually in fact 25 will be expensive premiums. I had a dodge srt-4 when I as 19 and insurance was 400 a month. I have one of the best insurance companies out there. I have USAA. Insurance companies see younger drivers as more risk.
