Pre-SEMA Track Day (350Z/G35 only)!

I will need your help on this one fellas...

Like the title says, I am gauging interest for a 350Z/G35 only track day in Pahrump the weekend before SEMA, October 28th or 29th, SEMA starts on the 31st. This will be a one day event and a private rental so we would not be teaming up with anybody else but ourselves. We do have some major hurtles to get figured out before this thing can become a reality though so lets start with the first one, price. The price is $200 per person for a full day of track racing on the awesome 2.2 mile configuration of Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch. The price to rent the track for one day on the weekend is $3500 so thats roughly 18 people that we need to be fully committed. Once we get at least 18 people, I will set up a PayPal account and everybody will need to put in $100 ASAP as the track requires a 50% deposit to reserve the date. So the first task is getting 18 people who are seriously interested and will be able to provide the $200 when we need it. If we have more than 18 people we can discuss what to do with the extra money. This will be non-profit, so the more people that sign up, the more the price goes down. Lets start the list...

Please put your name or username and mark it with either committed or maybe...

It is impossible for me to committ to a weekend that far in advance. I have no idea how they are going to jerk around my work schedule between now and then. I will promise that I will be there, if I can. I do not have any potential conflicts on my calendar. Even if I am not able to get the time off so I can run with you for the day, you can count on me to instruct for at least a few hours and/or help however I can prior to the event.

Are there going to be any corner workers? Ambulance or safety crew? Are you getting the necessary insurance on your own or from the track?

You said we will be able to have the 2.2 mile course. Is there another group or school on the top section? One more question - what did they quote you as a price for the track mid-week?

Great idea dude! I'm sure I'll participate, but too far away to commit. The turbonetics guys should sponsor it! Then all of us with other kits will kick their butts all over the track....

^^^Thanks guys.

I will be getting ambulance, corner workers, safety crew, and all of that if we can generate enough money from participants and sponsors. I put the 2.2 mile course for now because its cheaper. If we get enough money to run the 3.1, then we will most likely expand to that. The event is going to be on a weekend so more people can make it out. Probably Saturday so those who have to get ready for SEMA have all day Sunday and Monday to do so.

There is a good chance that Turbonetics will be a sponsor lol. Also VP Fuels, NOS, Enkei, Nitto Tires, and I am going to see if my sponsors will pitch in as well.

Hey Mike, would there be a way to work out getting SEMA passes for the participants? Through the track maybe? I don't mean actually providing the participants with a badge, but giving them an avenue to register themselves.

I feel confident enough to make the deposit on the track myself, and with the generous help of Eagle1. I hope that everybody comes through so that we can make our money back, otherwise we just signed up for a very expensive track day for the two of us lol. I am waiting for a reply on the costs of the 3.1 mile configuration as opposed to the 2.2 mile. I plan on going with the 3.1 mile since we can accomodate more cars on the longer track and be more spread out. We are going full blown with this event, ambulance, safety crew, corner workers, instructors for the beginner group, and so on. I am also starting to make a website for this event so I don't have to update this thread on the 4 forums its posted on. Hopefully we get a good number of sponsors for this event to help out with the costs.

I am going to set up a PayPal account for driver registration, donations, and sponsor fees today so if anybody wants to confirm their spot, make a donation, or become a sponsor PM me for details and we will get this thing going! The more money we get, the better the event is going to be. This is non-profit so any extra money goes towards lunch raffle prizes or whatever else we can buy for the event!

Good job Mike. Was the speed ventures event on the 3.1 or 3.5 mile config?

Ok bad news. Just got off the phone with the track and they are not available that weekend, that monday or the weekend after SEMA. In fact, they are all booked on the weekends until 2007. I have put in a call to Las Vegas Motor Speedway to see if their outdoor road course is available and I am awaiting a call back. Sorry guys. Everything is on HOLD right now, our last chance is LVMS.

I don't want to burst your bubble but I bet the outside road course at the Speedway will be twice as much as Spring Mountain. Don't even thing about asking the price for the inside track unless you are sitting down and have a Paramedic standing by.

I figured as much, but I thought I would try anyway. I still think we could do it with the aide of sponsors and the amount of drivers, but I am not looking too optimistic. I think we will have to move the event to Buttonwillow or Willow Springs and pick a different date.

Mike if fired up. Everybody either get out of his way or join in to help. It sounds like you are committed to making this fun event happen. The rates for Spring Mountain are reasonable, if you want to do the event on a week day. Another good option is the Streets of Willow. It is a fun track and about half the price of the big track.

Turns out that LVMS wont even entertain the idea since we don't have a company backing us lol. So I guess its onto the Cali tracks...
