Service engine soon

WTF?!?!? I got a SES light on the way from the gym today. Any ideas? I disconnected the battery when I got home..we'll see if that does anything.

Check to see if your fuel cap is tight. Did you get a new exhaust? If so, it could be your O2 sensor that's loose or malfunctioning.

I don't think it would be the cats since it never happened with mine. And the 02 sensors that are in there are impossible to get loose. I tried for hours.

If anything, take it to Planet Nissan (it's closest to Brian and one of the better service dealership). I don't know if they're mod friendly, but I'd give it a shot.

they still have to prove the mods caused the problem. all i have ever seen the z ses light for was a loose gas cap or thottle chambers. so if it isnt having problems accelerating, then its probably a gas cap. if that doesnt fix it, you may want to schedule an appointment with ed at desert.

I never thought about the throttle chamber. If it's that, what would the problem be?

I reconnected the battery today and drove it around for about an hour and no SES light came on, so I will keep my fingers crossed that it was just a hicup in the system. Thanks all!

the most notable symptom is you hit the go pedal and dont go... or it may have a jolt in acceleration and may be very intermittant. but, the ses light would have to be on too. i dont think i ever saw one that didnt... although it may still happen. nissans ecm's are very stupid.

I just got the SES light come on in mine too. I got it checked at AutoZone and they came back with a P2135 code, the throttle position sensor is off. I have an appt with desert nissan this Tuesday. Anyone else get this?

When I first started the car, there was no throttle response and the service engine soon along with the slip light remained on. After shutting it off, the SES light remained on. I am guessing that they will replace the throttle body under warranty.

My first experience with nissan service. Hope it's not a nightmare!

Oh yeah, I had a CAI, took it off and put on the stock air box just in case :O

Good, TPS went out on my G35 a couple months ago and all I had at the time was a Ztube and K&n drop in, but put it back to stock before I took it in for repairs. And what do you know the first thing the service writer said when he was writing up the repair order was "good thing you dont have an aftermarket intake or you would be paying out of pocket!".

You shouldn't even have to mess with the TB if you're installing an intake. So I'm going to raise the BS flag on the service writer because Nismo has a similar system and if you install it, it's still considered as "aftermarket" even though it's a warrantied item from Nissan.
