Looking for an '82 280zx cylinder head

As it states, I am looking for a cylinder head. That I can just slap on my '82 280zx. I am pretty sure the valves are burnt up, on 5 and 6. And because of how much work is involved. I would rather just put a head on, that I know is good. I really do think, that the engine is fine. It just sat too long, and I blew the head gasket, and burnt the valves.

Anyway contact me here, or PM, or atranfanatic@yahoo.com And let me know pricing, shipping and such. Also pics, if you have any. zipcode 85207. I also want everything on the head. Including the camshaft and such. Thanks.

Okay...I also wanted to add. That '81-'83 should work. Because they are all flat top pistons. I can't recall, the number on the head. But also, it is for the n/a 280zx, not the turbo. thanks.

Looks like I may get an engine out of a '79 for cheap. Then I can take the head off it, and get my '82 running. What is the difference between a '79 and '82 head? I know, that it doesn't have a cylinder head temp sensor. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

I've got the head you are looking for and am only asking $50 for it plus S&H. What you are looking for is the P79 head. The '79 that you are looking at will have an N47 head and while it will work it will significantly raise your compression to more than 10:1 which will likely require you to run super gasoline (translation, gas will cost you more). If it's a track car that's probably a good move, for a daily driver you may want to stick with the P79 head. Both of these have the round exhaust ports so they are interchangable without having to replace your exhaust manifold/header also...ANY other head and you will be replacing this part too as ALL the other Z heads have square exhaust ports.

As a side note I have a very nice brand new round port tuned header for sale also (tuned = equal length runners).

See pix of these and all the parts I have had the time to list on my site here: www.TexasZ.net and please let me know via email/PM if you want the head and/or anything else.

^ Thanks everybody for the responses. Much appreciated. Anyway texasz, I will definately bookmark your page. For future parts, if I need them. I am pretty sure my head is okay. Probably just need to have it shaved.

Also thank you for information on the differences in heads. Which brings another question. What would happen, if I put an '83 n/a head (P79? right) on a '79 engine? Because my plan is to put the '79 engine in my '83 n/a digital. But have the original ' 83 head rebuilt. Then I can sell it, down the road for more. Because it will be a nice running daily driver. Let me know if you could and thanks in advance.

Only real question is does the block have flat top or dished pistons. If flat top then you will be just fine. If dished then the compression will be low if I recall correctly. Go grab the engine calculator from here: http://www.zcarcreations.com/downloads/lengine.zip and run your configuration through it.

^ Which block, do you mean? The '79 (should have dished pistons, which is the engine I plan on using) And the '83 (should have flat top, which this engine is blown)

It's not as easy as what block you have. The non-turbo 280ZX engines had flat top pistons, the turbo engines had dished pistons. I believe all the 280Z engines had dished pistons also. May be worth a few minutes of research as this is off the top of my head and I can not seem to locate my reference site at the moment.
